Things that void the warranty on a bowling ball

Post by kajmk »

This may have changed over the years but what to your knowledge will void a manufacturers warranty?
I'm not asking this for myself as I've been out of bowling for many years.

Might even be a good short article for our wiki.

Thanks.

Bridge less than 1/4 inch in width, lateral finger pitches that do not add up to at least 3/4 Inch, examples : 3/8 left, 3/8 right = 3/4 Ok 5/16 left. 5/16 right, adds up to 5/8. not ok.
exposing your ball to extreme temperatures. Ball damaged by a pin setter.

You're welcome, I did forget on thing, pin less than 1 inch away from a finger hole.

I think you covered them, but to summarize from Storm Bowling's Warranty:

• The distance between the edge of any hole and the edge of the Pin being less than 1”
• Plugging of the ball
• Improper installation of inserts for the fingers and/or thumb
------The top of each hole must be adequately beveled (having the visible appearance of being rounded with at least .020” or more radius)
------A non-excessive amount of adhesive/super glue should be used [I see this one far too often...can cause stress cracks]
• A bridge that has been weakened by holes that intersect or by being too narrow
------A minimum 3⁄4” difference in lateral pitches must be used
------The width of the bridge must be 1⁄4” or larger
------Holes may not intersect [can happen when you drill these holes DEEP]
• Damage caused by pinsetters, ball return systems, gutters and/or lanes
• Bowler abuse
• Exposure to extreme temperatures (above 125°F or below 40°F) [How many bowlers keep them in the trunk of their car?]
