Do I need my PAP to layout a ball?

My Pro Shop guy tells me that my PAP will change as my bowling improves, so it is not necessary to know. He says they use the "Quadrant Method" for laying out a bowling ball, but I cannot find any information about this on the internet. What is the Quadrant Method and do I need to find my PAP in order to use it? More important is, does this method work for laying out a bowling ball?
