I put my ball in my revivor the other day and noticed almost no oil coming out of it (very little). I sanded the ball at 500 abralon to open the pores (as usual) , put it my revivor set at 125* and left it in for @ 1 1/2 hours. opened the top and nothing. all the other times, it would have so much oil extracted, that I couldn't even hold it.....what would cause it not to have any oil all of a sudden? could it be the lanes conditioner that they are using now or something else with the ball itself? the ball seems to be reacting the same on the lanes but it's something I do every couple of months for maintenance. any thoughts?

How many times have you revived it?
Have you talked to the laneman about the oil?

I have been using the hammer scandal for years and have taken very good care of it so far. I used to put it in my revivor once a month and use to get oil from it quite often. I've been using the ball (on and off) almost every week lately for a couple of months and decided to put it in the revivor to check it for absorption and noticed hardly any oil coming from it like before. i heard they are using the cheapest oil that they can use but don't know if that's true or not. I probably revived it 5-6 times over the years and also sanded and polished it during the past months/years depending on the weather here in Florida. I'm just wondering now, if it could be a dead ball, even though I still get good scores using it? hope this helps.....

It has been thought that the liquid pulled out of coverstocks is not just lane oil but plasticizers used in making the ball.

It as by another name a Particle ball.

I used to have the Hammer Big Blue, a particle ball.
late in it's life I could not get any oil out of it and it eventually cracked.
I am not saying your Scandal is on the same course but...
If you notice the pin is raised, meaning the cover is shrinking, still curing, I make the prediction.

Instructions with my NuBall oven said 130*

It seems that the Temperature limits keep going down, Why?

I am coming to the conclusion that heating a ball to revive it is a double edge sword.
Take the good with the bad.
Get the oil out of it to bring it back to life.
While in the long run it May be bringing on catastrophic failure sooner.

My ball oven gets very little use these days.
All of my equipment is still new and won't think of de-oiling until the performance is definitely affected.
Or when you hold your hand on the ball and it produces an oily handprint on it.
This fact tells me that you barely need 100* to get the oil moving.
