Website Upgrade - 7/6 - *Upgrade Complete* - Sort of...
BowlingChat Members,
I will be upgrading the framework of the website on July 6th @ 11AM.
There will be an outage of unknown duration, and you will not be able to login to the forum during this time.
1 new feature will be added, a true single sign on between the forum and wiki.
If you are logged into the forum and you go to the wiki, there will be no need to sign in again.
Session management will be fully transient.
Thank you for your patience.
-Eric

Eric - I have never found it necessary to "sign-in" to the wiki once I've signed into the forum (one sign-in that's it).MegaMav wrote:BowlingChat Members,

If you're just looking at the wiki you don't have to sign on. If you want to create a new topic or edit an existing one you do. -- JohnP

Re: Website Upgrade - 7/6 - *Upgrade Complete* - Sort of...
The forum upgrade is complete with a new chat interface at the bottom.
I am still working on the single sign on portion of the wiki.
Right now, the wiki is readable, but it will not be writeable until I can figure out what the issue is with the single sign on.
kellytehuna is also helping to figure it out.
Typical IT problem, get it to work correctly in a test environment, and then it doesnt work the same in production.
Worst case, we go back to having to sign in the old way again.
I'd prefer for that to not happen.
Will update when I have more.

Re: Website Upgrade - 7/6 - *Upgrade Complete*
Whelp, im giving up, and im no quitter.
Spent about 7 hours on it today, and there appears to be a limitation to the technology across subdomains like we have in forum.bowlingchat.net and wiki.bowlingchat.net.
We are back on the old authentication technology, you'll need to login with your forum ID and password to edit articles.
I'll see about getting this single sign on done for the upgrade/release next year.
Its a lot of work, for a small convenience.
What we have this year is:
1. A new chat bar at the bottom called ArrowChat.
Its quick, cleaner and easier to use with better features on it than the old CometChat.
You can even video chat with your favorite BowlingChat members.
If you dont see the new chat bar, you may need to purge your internet cache.
2. Upgraded both themes up to the latest version.
3. Wiki and Forum have been upgraded to PHP 5.3, this will be a requirement for us to upgrade again, so that is complete as well.
4. The wiki has a new skin on it called Vector, its pretty sharp looking.
Everything to me seems a bit quicker which is good.
If you see any issues, please let me know, everything should be as it was or better now.
Your Administrator,
-Eric

Re: Website Upgrade - 7/6 - *Upgrade Complete* - Sort of...
Mav -- I received a PM today. When I logged on the site I got a pop-up saying I had a new message, great reminder. But after viewing the message, the pop-up returns every time I swap pages. Is there some way to get rid of it after the message is viewed? Also, there used to be a light white line around the forum being viewed when I returned to the index. It's not there any more. Not a big problem, but after viewing a bunch of posts I sometimes forget what forum I had been on. -- JohnP

John,
Just click on the button below the pop up window to dismiss the alert.
Its called notifications if you hover over it, its part of the chat bar.
Eventually I would like the bar to display alerts to posts that have been replied to in which you subscribe.
Not sure about the white line, I think you mean a hot link you just clicked on.
I have no control over that, sorry.
Dont forget, we have the "unread posts" view on the main page to show all unread posts from all forums on one page, it will save you a bit of time.
search.php?search_id=unreadposts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
