Re: Layout Advice For Match With High Tilt
You are on the right track
I got 85 Totals and 1:1.5 Ratio
Asymmetrical Layouts
Totally Strong ........... 32-5.5-33 Long Oil
Midlane .................. 20-5.5-45
Benchmark .............. 35-5-50 Medium oil
Long and Strong ......... 55-5-50
Control.................... 35-4.5-70 Short Oil
The Sport layouts for Higher Tilt bowlers end up right in the usable Range of the Basic arsenal.

Re: Layout Advice For Match With High Tilt
Hello Eric,
Forgot that you start with 95 on the Sweet Spot.
Could you recommend layouts for Symmetrical balls? 4" Pin-To-Pap for the high tilt to burn it off sooner?
And how do determine the amount of the Pin-To-Pap, up or down adjustment (.5, -.5 etc.) from Benchmark?
The bowler wants to drill a Harsh Reality, Attention Star, and VEBO at Long and Strong at 55x5x50. And a Physic at Totally Strong at 32x5.5x33. Are those good layouts for those balls?
Thank You, again!

Re: Layout Advice For Match With High Tilt
Why 3 balls with the same layout?
I would round out the arsenal rather than just playing the minimal difference in cores.
Physic ........................ Totally Strong
Harsh Reality ............... Benchmark oob surface
Attention Star .............. Control 4000 grit surface
VEBO ......................... Long and Strong oob surface
Symmetrical layouts...
Benchmark ................. xx-3-45
Control ..................... xx-4-75
low flare ................... xx-2-55
Symmetrical balls naturally burn Tilt faster than Asyms.
Figuring out how much to adjust...
There are many factors that can be considered.
How much do you want to change the flare?
What is the differential of the ball?
Higher Tilt bowler , Low Tilt bowler Medium Tilt ?
What kind of layout are you tuning in?
What kind of ball shape are you looking for?
I make 1/2" adjustments minimum for a noticeable change.

With Symmetricals use a 3" Pin to PAP to burn off Tilt faster.StorminSlee wrote: ↑February 24th, 2024, 7:54 pm And how do determine the amount of the Pin-To-Pap, up or down adjustment (.5, -.5 etc.) from Benchmark?

Hello Eric,
Will pass this on to the bowler. He's going to his PSO this coming Monday.
Will let you know how it goes.
Thank You!

Re: Layout Advice For Match With High Tilt
Hi Eric,
Just wanted to thank you, the bowler (230 average in one league) finished 1st in senior all event for a tournament using the new layouts.
He has a ball that was drilled before your recommendations. A iQ Ruby, 60x3x30. Where would you place this ball in his arsenal as far as his Symmetrical layouts?
He has another ball to drill. Ocean Vibe. Would you drill this ball as an benchmark ball?
Thank You!

Re: Layout Advice For Match With High Tilt
I'd call the 60-3-30 a skid snap layout for him.
With his PAP the Drilling Angle is more like 70*
The Symmetrical Benchmark is a good choice for the Vibe.

Re: Layout Advice For Match With High Tilt
Hi Eric,
This bowler likes skid/flip layouts. Please recommend skid/flip layouts for these 2 balls.
Dark Code and VEBO.
Also, can you recommend skid/flip layouts for these Urethane balls.
Storm IQ Tour 78U
Hammer Black Pearl
Hammer NU Blue
Thank you for all your help.

Re: Layout Advice For Match With High Tilt
Sorry I am not going to recommend all skid snap layouts for all 5 of these balls.
For one reason you can't get skid snap reactions out of low differential urethane balls.
The best I can do is to recommend Benchmark layouts on the low differential urethanes...... xx-3-45
Dark code ................... 70-5.5-35
VEBO ......................... 60-5-45
I would not put the same layout on the Asyms, I purposely made them different.
Otherwise they would be too much alike.

Re: Layout Advice For Match With High Tilt
Eric,
A question about the recommendation to use 70* for his drilling angle for symmetrical balls. You mention something about his PAP.
Can you explain why? So, certain PAP numbers will or can change a drilling angle? I understand that drilling angles are really not used any more. I just normally use 60* by be consistent from ball to ball. Just want to learn.
Thanks!

Re: Layout Advice For Match With High Tilt
The 60* you are using is measured through the CG I presume.
The number 70* I referenced is measured to the thumbhole on the 60-3-30 IQ Ruby.
Cg location has no bearing on what the post drilled PSA location is.
The Thumbhole determines the PSA location on Symmetrical balls.
