Ball Weight Variances

Post by FredSoDak »

I can understand why there are small weight variances between different types of balls; because there are different inner core, outer core, & coverstock densities and volumes. What would cause the same ball to have differing weights; as I have 3 Innovators; 14.4, 14.2, & 14.0 in weights? Should they not all be identical?

Also have an "on the side" question. Why, on all 3 of these balls, are the Pin to PSA distances different; at 6 3/4, 6 7/8, & 7 inches. Should they not all be the same on identical balls? Is the Pin to PSA supposed to be at a 6 3/4 distance for all asyms?

Variations in manufacturing, those small variations will not affect ball motion nor will you feel them.

Exactly, It's a manufacturing process, there will be variances, it's the same as a specified dimension for a machined part, let's call it a widget for argument's sake. Say it needs to be 3 3/4 thick by 5 inches wide by 10 inches long. There will be acceptable tolerances for each dimension for instance
3 3/4 +/- .015
5 +/- .005
10 +/- .010

Not all the widgets will be the same exact size, but they will be within spec.
