Been off the lanes for the past 5 weeks due to a bout of pneumonia. I am not yet 100 % but I am almost there. Hit the lanes yesterday after being off for 5 weeks. Had a little more rust than expected but things were getting better once I started to bowl. An illness like this at my age is a fairly tought thing to deal with but at least I was able to survive although still a little bit weak in the legs.
Finally got to throw the replacement Black Widow 2.0 hybrid and it felt great. Even though the drilling was a copy of the damaged ball that was replaced, the new ball felt even better and actually felt a little lighter even though they are both the exact weight. This allowed me to make a very relaxed delivery and did not feel like I was holding on too tight.
The big realization this outing was that I had not been staying down in the shot at the foul line. I was pulling up a bit causing me to miss my mark a bit to the right. This time I made some very good shots by staying down and extending my follow through much better and getting the ball on the lane smoothly with a very nice roll. All in all a good experience.
Sidelined for 5 weeks
