Hiya, I have a 15lb Brunswick Reactive fingertip, good ball.
I roll one handed but think two is better as it's more like my golf/tennis swing.
Is it sensible to think it would be best to learn on a 12 or 13 lb ball instead of 15?
Thx. Randy

To get the response ball rolling.
Have you considered using a house ball to learn?
Doing so you would be able to try different weights and observe differences in your mechanics.
Also consider using video and comparing yourself using different weights.
If possible take some lessons from an instructor.
At a minimum look for learning tips on YouTube from established coaches , for example look for The Art of Bowling video
A few examples

May all beings everywhere be happy and free,

Yes! That’s definitely a good idea and golf is a great analogy!
If you have a chance to book a lesson with Alex Gurkov or Del Warren that would be the best decision, very few coaches know how to teach the style. Alex is in Las Vegas and often goes to Florida, Del is in Florida. I have plenty of experience teaching the style and am located in Puerto Rico.

Best to get a mild reactive like a Twist or a Surge and drill conventional with 3/4 to 1” reverse, no inserts. Many new no thumb bowlers have negative tilt and this is caused by a late release and the thumb going clockwise (for right handers) at release. Relaxed pitches and no inserts teaches to release early.
