Eric etal....
I bowl on a synthetic 18 mil 39-foot house shot. (current conditioner) I am currently having some success with a Gem drilled at 90X1.75X45 surfaced at 1000. This seems to work the best. I have extensively trialed all surfaces including polish.
The house carry is difficult for everybody in general. There are no 220 averages here, unlike other houses closeby that have 15-20 averages 220+.
Are there possibly layouts with longer pins (asyms) that might give me more hit but with comparable control?
I am open to any ball solid/hybrid/pearl etc.
Thanks

Re: Layouts for lower volume house condition
Try 55-5-55 Pin in the middle finger.
An adjusted Control layout for your release specs to provide a straighter line of play.
The adjustment is the longer 5" Pin to PAP to get the ball to transition to roll without hooking the whole lane.

Would the Ebonite Envision be a candidate for that layout?

Re: Layouts for lower volume house condition
It is barely Asymmetrical. Intermediate Differential of .010
The drilling of the thumb hole will pull the PSA almost to it.
Post drilled you would end up with a Drilling angle closer to 75*+
If you are set on this ball I would compensate with a smaller Drilling angle. 30-5-55
I would actually consider a different ball.
Maybe something like this...
https://brunswickbowling.com/products/b ... t/defender
or
https://brunswickbowling.com/products/b ... evo-hybrid
With the DOT technology no adjustment to the 55-5-55 will be needed.

Re: Layouts for lower volume house condition
Eric et al,
Is there a mathematical equation for calculating the drill angle increase as the intermediate differential decreases pre drill? Or is it along the lines of the old gradient line balance hole placement? Like .10 very close to thumbhole and .18 very near mass bias? Thanks

Re: Layouts for lower volume house condition
This is why the specific ball to be drilled needs to be considered when determining a layout.
No equation just my personal experience.
I had a few years where I got to spin some balls on a Determinator when I was drilling balance holes in my equipment.
.011 the PSA pulls pretty much to the thumb hole.
.014 the PSA pulls about halfway
.018 pulls less than 1/4 of the way.
The P3, P4 and 2" down balance holes were awesome tools to counteract the effect of the thumb hole.

Re: Layouts for lower volume house condition
I normally desire bigger drill angles so I probably ended up with angles in my favor. This is great additional info....Thanks. As far as I know there is no determinator locally.
