Re: Correcting Bad Release Habits(?)
"Here is what makes bowling so difficult, the perimeters. We are throwing a heavy object at a target that is 60 feet away. Not only that, there are 10 of them. That, in and of itself, sends a signal to the brain whereby it would appear a lot of effort will be required. Better athletes look at i...

Bud.
As you may know the relationship of the lane to the ball is like that of a road with a tire.
They change each other.
Cheers!

Re: Six Month Overview
As for 10 pin nightmares.
Consider this in future practice sessions, play a game of picking the 10 pin off a full rack, on the second shot, roll it over the hopefully vacant 10 pen spot.
Straight ball takes the lane condition out of play.

Re: Pain in fingers
Quick thought an opinion. I am no PSO. Have not bowled in eons. I have had a similar experience and I did come around too soon and I had excellent PSO'S so in my case it was not a measurement issue like span or pitch etc. Chat with your PSO and a coach, see if they can observe you. The PSO might be ...

Magic ... How are things going? In looking at the orientation of your shoulders and hips, it looks to me that you would be throwing the ball to a spot somewhere on the next lane. Note, this is just my impression. Read this thread, hone in on Jim Merrell's discussion of the importannce of the "o...

Re: New to this. Call out everything, please!
Welcome to the forum Magic ... Here is an attempt to answer the following question you posed I have been told I am not 'square to the line' but again, no real good explanation of what that means or how/what I should do to correct it or why correcting it will help. Square to the line. This is alignin...

Re: Seeking Single Ball Solution
Bud regarding covering the 10 pin. I followed Norm Dukes example and rolled a straight ball at it and many spares including the bucket. If you currently spread your index finger, move it next to your middle finger to straighten out the ball. I shared that tip with a teammate who had trouble with his...

Re: keeping notes
while watching the ladies bowling tonight, I noticed one of the ladies was keeping notes after her frame.... what are they keeping track of? Without asking her we would not know. I've been out of the game for a long time. Good question for bowling broadcast teams and for Bowler's via social media. ...

Re: Reinventing my game
Bud, you have the attitude of a winner! I've been out of the game a long time myself. I wish you well. May your fervor for the sport never end. Some points which may have already been covered. As you know, aggressive equipment magnifies a bowlers release. So slower ball speeds mean the ball will pre...

Re: 12-13 lb ball to learn two-handed?
To get the response ball rolling. Have you considered using a house ball to learn? Doing so you would be able to try different weights and observe differences in your mechanics. Also consider using video and comparing yourself using different weights. If possible take some lessons from an instructor...

Re: Thumbnail splitting
I know you've consulted with a doctor. The doctor probably told you that aging can lead to changes in our finger and toenails. I remember my father having to deal with a thumbnail problem when he was in his early 70's, he was retired, not engaged in physical activities that could stress or injure hi...

Re: Axis Tilt/ Fit Help
If you lengthened the span the ball stays on your hand longer, so the effect should be the opposite, your tilt should go down. Just a guess, I believe you have a lot of force in your downswing. Need to loosen up the swing and relax. This may mean relaxing your fit more over time, since it will be u...

Re: Sticky rubber heals
Good information ! I'd never heard of the slide stone. Several types are available online, e.g. Ama* The thread reminded me of Marshall Holman's trademark long slide. I believe the heal section of his shoes were flat. I've been out of the game so long, the last time I bowled I was using Linds classi...

Regarding Swing path 3)
Look at the suggested footwork here.
It looks like your body is impeding the swing by being in the desired path.

To start the ball rolling! Camera angle needs to be changed! See this article for guidelines http://wiki.bowlingchat.net/wiki/index.php?title=Video_Capture_Coaching I'm appealing to better minds to add their input. Correct me if need be. Divide and conquer, first the slide ... From this camera view,...
