Re: Setting up Tournament arsenal need layout advice
Thank you Eric!! This is VERY helpful. I was trying to figure out where to fit each ball in layout wise. I had actually talked to a new PSO I started working with last night and he was pretty similar to what you said. He suggested sticking with 4-4.5 pins based on what he saw, he said he felt 5 in p...

Setting up Tournament arsenal need layout advice
In a prior post for house shots I got some nice help from Eric Hartwell. Now I have purchased a few balls to try and create a general tournament bag to use for Sport Shot tournaments. I know the oil patterns can vary from long to short flat and all sorts of ratios. I really can't drill balls specifi...

Re: Looking for a ball
Ball choice must always be considered when choosing a layout. Of your possible choices, the Katana Assult is the only one I would eliminate from the list as a first ball out of the bag. Something like this would be better suited for the 3rd game. In my experience a control layout with a little bit ...

Re: Looking for a ball
The fresh oil condition lasts barely one game. 65-4.5-30 is basically the Totally Strong layout. Just has a slightly soft/slower backend reaction. 30* is still a Strong VAL angle. With a layout like this, keeping the speed up in the 2nd and 3rd game will be paramount. The Benchmark is a Strong layo...

Re: How to regain confidence in my approach
My thoughts on this. Of all the soles you may have, is this #8 the only one that you are having a sticking problem with? If so, I would try just replacing it with a new #8. From my own experience, I have had random times where I would out of the blue stick on a shot. I use Dexter shoes and a #8 sol...

Re: How to regain confidence in my approach
Nothing is simple in this game anymore. There are so many different types of lane surfaces it'll make a person's head spin. That does not include the overall condition of the surface either. You should stay with the shoe / heel combination that allows you to slide. Sure, it may feel like you can ba...

Re: How to regain confidence in my approach
I appreciate the replies. I have been trying to practice and get this out of my head. I was trying to practice more of a power step into my slide but since the fall I have been hesitating a lot because it was a bad fall. Fast forward to today I went to practice with my son. I was using my #10 slide ...

How to regain confidence in my approach
Hey all so I'm looking for some advice and I will try to keep this as short as possible: With just getting back to bowling and being roughly 45 and not as athletic as I was in my 20's, I found that my approach was shakey when returning, like I felt unsteady. I ended up buying better shoes, KR Strike...

Re: Looking for a ball
Thank you Eric! This was my initial assumption as well but it had me off when 2 people told me rev dominance wasn't really a thing until over 400 revs, it had me confused and the last thing I want to do is spend $ to layout a ball and put a poor layout on and have to fight it. I am going to try out ...

Re: Looking for a ball
I had my PAP rechecked yesterday and it was confirmed at 4 1/2" and 3/16th up. I'm trying to redo my league setup going into fall so I'd like to get a 1-2 punch with a Benchmark ball and then something longer and more angular when lanes break down. As I said prior I like the HK-22 cover stock b...

Looking for a ball
Speed off hand 15.5mph Avg Rev Rate 330 (it fluctuates from 300 to 380 depending but on avg most time it is in the 330 range.) Axis Tilt 10-12 deg Axis Rotation varies if I try to get more hand into the ball but on avg shots it falls into the 40 range. I am trying to find a ball where I can move in ...

Looking for advice to fix some form issues
Just got back to bowling after being away for 15 years. I have bowled probably 30 games in the past month, trying to get the feel of it all back and trying to adjust to being older, heavier, less in shape and less flexible than I used to be. I have been struggling and have been very inconsistent. He...

Questions about arsenal building
I was curious about this after seeing a video on YouTube by Mo Pinel, one of the #MoMonday where he went into building a 5 ball arsenal for Rev dominant/matched/speed dominant players. It seemed quite informative but I was wondering if there was more in-depth info by him about this? In the video he ...

Re: Where to start with a youth bowler?
This is a very difficult thing to answer. Have you talked to your son about his goals with his bowling? Is it to go out and have fun with friends and family or is it more? Where are you located? I'm Located in Long Islan, NY. He is 9 so I would say he is not at the "I want to be a professional...

Where to start with a youth bowler?
My son is 9 years old. He just started bowling about 2 months ago. We signed him up for a league because the flyer came home form school, he really loves it! He has his own ball and he tries to practice some of the things I tell him but I am nobody to be giving advice on how to bowl, especially to a...

Re: Bruising on finger pads...looking for advice
Without actually seeing his hand in the ball, it's a crapshoot, but something else that comes to mind is not enough reverse pitch in the fingers. I went to the Pro Shop, 2 guys looked at it and said they think the span is okay it just might be the pitches. They swapped the grips around so they aren...
