As mentioned, no two bowling centers are the same.
What are the approaches like at your center, synthetic or wood? Synthetic is more susceptible to humidity than wood approaches.
Another option in addition to having multiple soles is to have one of those slide socks with you.

Re: How to regain confidence in my approach
My thoughts on this. Of all the soles you may have, is this #8 the only one that you are having a sticking problem with? If so, I would try just replacing it with a new #8. From my own experience, I have had random times where I would out of the blue stick on a shot. I use Dexter shoes and a #8 sole...

Re: Thumb issues
Have you discussed or tried moving your thumb hole to be more in line with your middle finger than in the middle? I have arthritis in my thumb and adjusting my thumb hole has helped.

PAP Question
Probably a silly question, but.... How is a players PAP used when drilling a new ball? How do they determine the PAP location if the ball hasn't been rolled or drilled?
Ball Info
I have a purple Columbia Beast that I have had since mid to late 1990s. I am looking for any information on the ball as to what the cover might be and what kind of weight block it may have. it appears that columbia has recycled the brand name a few time which makes it hard to find information online.

Re: Targeting
Update: I received a little coaching from MR. Steve Lickliter. I was bending over too much at the foul line resulting in pulling the ball left. Also got a better launch angle. Still a work in progress, but, I am now hitting within a couple of boards of my target. In my most recent outings, I shot a ...

For us, if it is open bowling / practice, we generally pay with card.
For league fees, will use either cash or check.

Re: Are Fall leagues possible (and what is the limit?)
We are starting our fall league tonight in Charleston, WV. Only 8 teams, but, they are 5 person teams. We will be bowling one team per pair of lanes, the way we finished up when we got back to finish our league from last season. Same facility, we are bowling a 9 pin no tap mini league, 2 per team. W...

In my experience, it can help with focus on your target. You really have to concentrate which is a good thing.

We just started back up here in West Virginia. Alley staff wear masks. They also handle cleaning up after patrons finish....shoes and balls and sanitizing the area. There is hand sanitizer available and the recommend bringing your own hand sanitizer and wipes. Even though they probably already done ...

Return to bowling
We made our return to the lanes last night. The league that we bowl in is small, only 10 teams and the house we bowl in has 24 lanes. To help with meeting the spacing requirements, each team bowled on their own pair of lanes and your opponent was on the next adjoining pair. We used both lanes as we ...

Re: Targeting
Progress is being made. In last nights play, I was at about 90% of the time hitting the spot I was aiming at. Definitely the best I have been in a long time. I have 8 straight weeks of 500 or better to include my first ever 600. Also in that time, my average is up 7+ pins to 164. Thanks for the tips...

Re: Arm Injury
As others have stated, it sounds like something to do with the Biceps Tendon at the shoulder. I had a similar injury while bowling except that mine was a ruptured biceps tendon at the elbow. Hopefully, it is just a strain and you will be back to normal in no time.

Re: Targeting
In talking with local "instructors", it is apparently not to uncommon for this to occur. Still working to fix the issue. Still, 5th straight week of 500 or better, so things are progressing.

Targeting
I have an issue with hitting my target. Lets say I want to hit the third arrow from the right (right handed bowler). If I look at the third arrow, I am always 2 -3 boards left of the target. To overcome this, I look 2 -3 boards right of my target and it works well till I throw that one ball that act...

Re: bicep tendon surgery
I ruptured my biceps tendon at the elbow bowling. Wife and I hadn't been bowling in several years. 1st game, 6th frame, somewhere in the back swing it felt like an ice pick driven into the palm of my hand and in the elbow. On a positive note, I did end up with a strike even though I dropped the ball...
