Re: Turbocharged Purple Pearl ??!!
T-Hawk, you're just trying to get a fuss started. We don't need a ThroBot to address this issue; just some good ole laws of physics and math. And, maybe Ron Hatfield's book "Bowling Beyond the Basics". LOL! Ron stated in his book that a 14# bowling ball will hit harder than a 15# bowling ...

Re: Turbocharged Purple Pearl ??!!
One factor I have never heard anyone talk about is torque. Torque would be the amount of force that is applied to the bowling ball at the point of release. I guess, it is not measurable? The heavier the ball, the greater the resistance. But, it is not just a weight factor. Rolling a heavier ball re...

I think this was first suggested many years ago by coach Slovinski.

"Breaking in" - "Develop a track" : A misconception?
Latest video is a take on the issue of "breaking a ball in until it settles"...or something...What is your experience on this ? I would be interested to hear your opinion BEFORE and AFTER you watch the video !

Re: Laser scanning a PEARL bowling ball after 1 game !
My statements are in reference to league or tournament play. Some leagues / tournaments offer 10 minutes of practice. That's 10 minutes for 10 bowlers. If a person starts with a ball 4000 polished with React-a-Gloss, they would be hard pressed for time if the lanes were very oily and realized they ...

Re: Laser scanning a PEARL bowling ball after 1 game !
I'd say friction and grit are linearly correlated, but yes the conditions change every time. Unusable would be, a ball, through its aging process, would not be as effective as it was out of the box. I am directly making reference balls that are manufactured for heavy oil conditions. Sure, we can try...

Your Methods are flawed. Hopefully your next video will address the issues I have pointed out. I will no longer comment for or against. I am not going to waste any more of our time. Interesting discussions about things we like are not a waste of time. I answered to all your points. Perhaps you just...

Re: Laser scanning a PEARL bowling ball after 1 game !
Knowing the original surface friction of the ball could be considered subjective, but it is not going to be the same as when the bowler finishes competition. Do you mean initial surface grit here? Because it's very hard to calculate the force of friction. If you mean grit, then i agree. It is not g...

[Makes bowl of popcorn, pulls up comfy chair, and wades into the deep end of the pool. LOL!] Microfiber, as the name suggests, is an extremely thin man-made fiber that can be spun, woven, or knitted into a wide variety of textile products. Microfiber itself is a continuous filament fiber, which ess...

Re: Laser scanning a solid bowling ball after 1 game ( you'll be surprised !! )
I'm sorry, you need better data to convince me otherwise. Sorry that's not how science works. It is you who presented a hypothesis. So it is you that needs to present data in support of it. You only have a hypothesis....which means you have absolutely no idea how solid it is (if at all)....and yet ...

Re: Laser scanning a PEARL bowling ball after 1 game !
Yes. Some people are pretty good salesmen. Not saying the product doesn't do what it is intended to do, but personally, I can do without the sensationalism. I agree 100%. At any rate, knowing the grit of the ball is subjective. Not sure what you mean here, but i'd say it is the exact opposite of &q...

Re: Laser scanning a PEARL bowling ball after 1 game !
T-Hawk, Are you referring to the CtD handheld bowling ball scanner? If I were in the market, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. It is half the price of its only known competitor - Jayhawk-PAI. It is a digital readout (unknown granularity) rather than LEDs. Software can be upgraded as needed. And, Ron Hick...

Re: Laser scanning a PEARL bowling ball after 1 game !
Interesting... The ball is only on the lane for approximately + or - 3.5 seconds. But, the ball is in the return area of the machine for a proportionately longer period of time. During that time frame, the ball is in contact with abrasive materials such as carpets, conveyor belts, cushion plank (ba...

Re: Laser scanning a solid bowling ball after 1 game ( you'll be surprised !! )
Thanks for watching and commenting ! About your theory : Microfiber is known to be quite absorbent for oil, so it is unlikely that oil is merely smeared. If that were the case we would see totally different results once it absorbed in. Also, in the scanner manual it is stated that wiping the oil wit...

Re: Thumb Tape won't stay on thumb
I have the same issue because i sweat easily. Tried every tape, and 2 anti-sweat/moisture sprays (one Storm, the other i can't recall). Nothing worked. What helps a bit is to shave any hair you have on the back of your thumb, because even with tiny hair there the tape doesn't stick as well. Also try...
