Re: Hand position
My tendencies are to get the ball behind my back and above my shoulder. What Ron has been having me do to overcompensate for these is to push off left to keep my arm straight. To keep my arm height down I have to try to stop my backswing beside my hip. After a few years of these 2 things, I feel lik...

Re: Ball suggestions
I hit the Blu NU with 1000 Tru-cut on 6 sides to have a base I can replicate. I then polished it with Powerhouse Factory polish. It did make a difference. I was playing 27 to 8 with the IQ Emerald by the end of the 1st game. I tried moving right with the NU on the fill and it hooked too much. After ...

Re: Ball suggestions
After looking at the numbers, I thought the differential was too high on the Piranha for dry or short oil. I had an NU drilled. I threw it a couple shots during warmups. It grabbed the lane way too much. I hit it with a 5000 CTD and it still grabbed too much. My Wednesday league has more oil so I th...

Hand position
I am working with a great coach, Ron Hatfield. He is trying to get me to not cock my wrist. I literally have to force my hand towards my thumb just to get it straight. Of course once I relax it goes back into a cocked position. I have already changed my lateral thumb pitch from 1/8 left to 0 and the...

Re: Ball suggestions
Does anyone have any experience with the Hammer NU or the Piranha and can compare it to the IQ Emerald?

Re: curious on new ball reaction
I threw this ball at a demo day. I drill all of my stuff low flare anyway so I didn't notice a difference in the track flares. It is very smooth arcing on the backend and hits the pins hard. It impressed the heck out of me.

Re: Comparing Asym to Sym Pearls
I read your post and seen you didn't get any replies. Did you get a pearl? Without knowing your specs it's hard for someone to recommend something for you. Someone should have at least responded. Anyway, I have not thrown the Absolute, but I know some people that have and it seems to be stronger tha...

Re: Ball suggestions
Thank-you for that reply. I'll look into that in the Brunswick brands. I have been an SPI fan for a while. Although I had issues with some of their balls dying on me after 1 season or a change in the oil being used, I thought I was having good luck with them. I was a Hammer and Ebonite user before t...

Ball suggestions
One of the houses I am bowling in is giving me fits. My coach, Ron Hatfield, has gotten me to flatten my hand out and be smooth through the release point. A lot of the time I am not as smooth as I should be causing me to not get below the equator. By doing so my rev rate stays down below 350. Still ...

Re: Brunswick brands?
Another update. My Monday night league finished off not so good. They were very dry the last 4 to 6 weeks. I also bowled in an over 50 tournament there. The only thing that worked was moving to the back of the approach to get as much speed as I could with the RST-X2. The Wednesday night league went ...

Re: Thumb taping
A month or so before the end of the season I had an issue with a Switch-grip coming by the pinsetter. They didn't find it until the next week. I never had a matching backup made because I haven't been completely happy with how that one felt. Since I've been going to a coach, I have been wanting to t...

Re: Brunswick brands?
Update. I had a Black Widow 3.0 drilled up as well as a Journey my wife got me for Christmas and an RST-X2 I bought over a year ago on sale for under $100. The RST is the only ball I've used on my Monday drier league other than a couple games. Those 2 games I went to the IQ Nano Pearl because it was...

2025 USBC Nationals
I attended the Nationals every year from 1985 to 2021 except for 2 early. For many years nothing changed. The only thing that was bad was not having any warmups to speak of. You did have the stub lane for D & S. Then one year you didn't have that for the early squad. It was being run by the phot...

Re: Brunswick brands?
The Phaze 2 and Jackal Ghost both have less than 50 games. Tge All-Road maybe 100. I have returned to factory surfaces. I have not detoxed or completely resurfaced any of them.

Brunswick brands?
In my Monday league I started at the beginning of the season throwing an IQ Emerald 20 to 8 with no hand. When the weather cooled off I went to the All-Road on the same line. A few weeks ago I found that the IQ Nano Pearl with the factory surface went longer and stronger than the other two, so that'...

Re: Ball selection help
Thank-you for that information. I have another question. The house I bowl in on Monday hooks quite a bit more. On the fresh I am starting near 20 with my hand out of it to get it down the lane hitting 8 at the breakpoint. Until a month ago I was only able to use the IQ Emerald. I think because of th...

Re: Ball selection help
I updated my specs in my profile. I didn't use best day specs. I didn't know about the signature until you mentioned it so I looked for and found it. My next ball will be for the long heavy oil.

Ball selection help
I had a pretty good season last year in two houses having been working with my coach Ron Hatfield. This year I am bowling in a new house on Wednesday. It has a completely different shot that I've only seen once in 30 years. It's called long heavy oil! It's nice having to actually work at finding a r...

Creating the Difference
I joined CTD as a regional staff member. I have not used any of the offered benefits as of yet. Not being one to post on social media, I thought I'd give it a try anyway. I have posted twice on their members only Facebook page. I thought this may be a good place to post my thoughts also. I am 56 yea...
