Re: Recommendations for a Comparable Spare Ball

Welcome to BowlingChat The Wine U Dot is a pancake core, very low differential. I did a quick search and found only 2 balls with pancake cores available today. The Storm Mix and RotoGrip Retro RG. Both come oob shiny so to replicate the old Wine U Dot some surface would help make it more like old fa...

Re: Minimize deflection cover/core?

There needs to be some deflection for the perfect strike. Too much deflection and the ball exits on the 8 pin or Too much continuation and the ball exits at the 9 pin for Lefties. Opposite for Righties. Tuning layouts to the release specs and matching those layouts to the amount of friction is how a...

Knowing how you release the ball is more important than if you have a pinky hole or not.

if you are a High Tilt Speed Dominant bowler with an up measurement in your PAP It may not be drilled properly.
Knowing your bowl roll is key to figuring out Layouts.

Re: Short pin layout on Purple Hammer

Welcome to BowlingChat The idea for short pin and reduced flare is a valid one. Low to no flare will create carrydown and your lane adjustments need to keep that in mind. The backend reaction will get softer as more oil is dragged down the lane. Measure your PAP off a low to no flare setup to layout...

Re: Hand position

I am working with a great coach, Ron Hatfield. He is trying to get me to not cock my wrist. I literally have to force my hand towards my thumb just to get it straight. Of course once I relax it goes back into a cocked position. I have already changed my lateral thumb pitch from 1/8 left to 0 and th...

Re: Layout help please

From what I understand about the "Leverage" layout is that it set the stage for the use of Balance holes. Kicking the Cg out to the side below the Midline. That shift in weight really didn't amount to much change in ball motion. The balance hole it enabled sure changed the motion though. I...

Re: need good bowling ball bag

Welcome to BowlingChat Something Special... Many bowlers are Very brand loyal, their bowling bags match their bowling balls. So I would ask what brand bowling balls is he using? For the most part a top of the line bag is offered from each brand. You can shop by brand on this page... https://www.bowl...

It is the Longer Pin to PAP that is what really makes it work for you.

Stick with Pin to PAP distance between 5" and 6" on Asymmetrical bowling balls.

Re: Newbie not able to Hook... is my Ball drilling wrong?

Hey there... I 39 years old and I totally new to the hobby. I went to the Bowling Center and told the drilling Guy that I want to start Bowling and want to learn the Hook. He gave me advice to get a "Roto Grip - Hustle" with 14 LBS. Never got asked about a layout or anything... he drilled...

Emerge Hybrid ..........Totally Strong ................ 45-5-30 It is a Strong set up. It needs oil. Not a ball you'll use a lot, but a nice one to have when there is enough oil for it. Perfect Mindset another strong ball. If you are struggling with drier lanes I would recommend a weaker ball. You c...

Re: Urethane effect?

Welcome to BowlingChat Yes one person can mess up the line, been there done that. I called it defensive bowling and my teammates knew what I was doing. I'd use my OG Blue Hammer and drag a line of carrydown right through the opponents breakpoint. My teammates would use the carrydown for hold to the ...

Re: Ball Arsenal Check

Welcome to BowlingChat

You have a nice 2 ball arsenal with the White Dot spare ball and the Zen Strike ball.
Adding a ball in between them is a good idea.
I would look for a medium differential Pearl Symmetrical to add to it.
Something like the Storm Xponent or Hy-Road

Re: quick question on layout....

Phaze2 is a big differential Symmetrical. The resultant Drilling Angle is about the thumbhole. Depending on PAP location the Drilling angle is somewhere around 70* I would consider this ball to be in the Long and Strong category Put a 500 grit surface on it and keep your speed up when playing in the...

Welcome to BowlingChat As long as your new grip is comfortable and not causing any pain I would get the Rhino re-drilled fingertip. This will get you fully committed to your new bowling style. I like the idea of a 2 ball bag with a Strike ball and a Spare ball. The Spare ball doubling as your strike...

Re: New DNA layout advice needed

Hi Eric, I am adding Emerge Hybrid to my arsenal. Which layout would you recommend? I am doing well with DNA pin up (long and strong 70x4x50) but still struggling with Pin down DNA control layout (50x4x70). I am hoping Emerge Hybrid and fill in for strong sharp category. Totally Strong .... 45-5-30...

Adjust the Totals smaller for Speed Dominant low rev bowlers. Smaller Drilling Angles. Larger VAL angle will delay the roll, The speed dominant ne...
