Re: No Thumb Layouts
Mo and Mikey's layouts had shorter Pin to Pap distances (on average for asymmetrical balls) and higher ratios. Mo was a fan of retaining tilt with short pin layouts. The 2ls layouts use very long pin to PAPs on most of them with smaller ratios. The #2 layout on the 2ls system is more in line with wh...

Re: Half Thumb
Chances are that your thumb hole will move left of the centerline you are now measuring your finger pitches off from. To keep the same pitches, you will have to continue drilling of that same line. I would use 2 seperate centerlines. One for drilling fingers and another for your thumb (and also to m...

Re: No Thumb Layouts
I tried both. I then converted each layout to dual angle and still think that is easier.

Re: Thumb issues
I would have your driller check into Joe Slowinski's ADT drilling method. I switched to it and most of the people that I drill for like it better (of the ones willing to try it). He uses a lot of left lateral in all of the thumb holes. You can get the instructions from his website or on facebook if ...

You could put super glue on the rubber heal.

Re: Thumbless full-roller?
If I put the pin more than 5.5" from PAP on a weak symmetrical ball, a lot of 2 handed bowlers hit holes. If VAL angle is too small, the same thing with backwards flare. Try not to go less than 40*.

Re: Two hander fighting extremely high track
Juha says to roll it off of the wrist starting about a foot before the ankle (he says it happens when opposite hand leaves the ball). In the video, his wrist appears to stay fixed as if he has a wrist guard on (this is what I meant by not hitting up on ball and why Juha wants loose fingers). You mig...

Re: Two hander fighting extremely high track
Keep the pin above the line from his PAP to top of middle finger. Juha says that the best way to get off middle finger is to release earlier. He does not want fingers in ball past knuckle and he wants holes fairly loose. avoid hitting up. Looks like Joe is trying to do what Mo recommends with ball s...

I just measure the inserts and subtract that from the cut to cut measurement.

Re: No Thumb - One handed??
The drilling patterns you posted (viewtopic.php?f=15&t=14573), are only for symmetrical balls. Best way for asymmetrical layouts (no thumb) is to use very large drilling angles. I like 90* with a 45* VAL angle. The higher ratio helps retain tilt a little longer (although with very short pin to P...

Re: High diff. core/low flare layout vs. med diff/regular la
I am lost on this as well. If I had a strong ball such as a hammer ripped or something and put a low flare layout on it, I would use it in a situation where I am already using a strong ball, but it is sort of over reacting in the backend and either too sharp of backend or it is covering too many bo...

Re: High diff. core/low flare layout vs. med diff/regular la
I appreciate the responses I have received so far but I think they are missing the main point of my question. I am not asking how flare affects ball motion, I am asking why (or if) reducing the flare on a high differential ball causes the ball to flare differently than a ball that comes with a medi...

Re: Layout Recommendation
I thought Mo stated no thumbs should avoid 2.5 to 4 inches? More hook, 4.5 to 5.5 and 2.5 to 1 for low flare? In symmetrical balls the 4.5 to 5.5 would be low flare. Mo said to avoid 2.5 to 4 inches because under most circumstances a no thumb bowler does not need that much motion (they are trying t...

Re: Fingers across the back not up the back
Some people do it by cocking hand (not cupping). puts all the weight on your pointer finger which is in line with your wrist/arm/elbow and has fingers aimed left (for right hander).
