Okay, I got in! I'll get knocked out the first round, I've really fell off these last couple of seasons but I can say I took part.

What's the minimum number of entries you need to run this, Last year you said a minimum of 28. Unless there's a stampede I don't think you'll get 32 or 28.

With my entry that gets you 15 entries so far, If you can get one more for 16. You could run a 4 week, 16 player bracket.

Thats the thought, we'll see.
However I wont shut anyone out, I'll just give a bye to higher seeds.
16 is the minimum. 24 would be nice.

I am a bit lost now. When you are talking about giving a bye to a higher seed? I was glad when bowl1820 got in so I didn't have to deal with #1. #1 has to bowl in some place where the lanes are easy to get a score that high. The highest in that bowling alley is probably 250 or 260 with the corner pins being easy. I can deal with preoaks but not #1, how about we give the higher seed one a bye If there has to be a bye? Is a higher seed a lower average or is a higher seed a higher average? I am lost. to me higher seed might be the person that is most likely to win? Maybe we need to figure out what a higher seed means?

Sorry. Higher seeds meant ranking starting from #1 gets a bye depending upon how many openings there are on down.

Okay So you figure you'll have a easy time of it, if you have to bowl against me! Well I have been struggling, But I guess that means I'll have to really focus and put some effort into it, If we are paired up.

Maybe we need to figure out what a higher seed means?
Seeding is a method of ranking players according to skill level/Average, Usually so that players of lower ability are not matched against those of a higher skill level right at the start.

In the case of bowling a Higher seed is typically referring to a higher average player or a player who is higher up in the standings of say a tournament.

You got it confused bowl1820. I thought you were going to get a bye and then I would have to deal with #1. They don't pair #1 vs #2 or #15 vs #16 they pair the top with the bottom and move inward. So if anything #1 would get a bye, you would take preoaks I would take whoever is under him. I was referring that preoaks would be much easier then dealing with #1 not you.

Given if that's how players are paired for the first round, the highest averages versus the lowest averages. As opposed to pairings based on comparable averages or random pairings.

If that's the case That would help explain why there are so few entries.

That pairing system would favor the highest ave. players. Because it allows the majority of the highest ave. players to move on to the next round. (depending on the spread of averages from low to high of course. The averages at the middle would have the fairest pairings)

Where as with a pairing system based on comparable averages, you would lose half of the highest ave. players the first round.

Once it was known, lower average players wouldn't bother to sign up. Because they would figure they would be out after the first round.

Because while it is possible for a upset by a lower ave. player beating a high ave. player, the odds are the highest ave. player would most likely win over the lowest ave. player. Who would then be knocked out the first round.

Now I don't care if that's how it's done, If I have to bowl against one of the highest averages the first night. I look forward to the challenge, I just signed up to help fill out the bracket so they could run it anyway.

I dont know what people are so scared of?
The consternation over things being "equal" comes out of handicap bowling environments.
The NCAA seeding of the annual championship tournament must be unfair then.

Its a free tournament we do here for fun and a little bit of bragging rights.
We had a bowler on here that bowled in a SPORT league and STILL submitted scores and WON at least one match I think. I cant recall.
I probably should have re-rated his sport scores to regular play scores, but I didnt, and he wanted the challenge. Now THAT is a bowler.

Never back down. Bowl. Give it a shot. Be the underdog. Survive and advance.
Whats to lose?

I'm looking forward to a bit of fun competition, even though I've been very inconsistent the past few weeks... Bum knee and playing with release changes doesn't equate to great scoring. Maybe I'll have it worked out before we start.

Regardless, it's for fun!

The bracket is set ---> Bracket

We're going with 16 this year, no byes.
Scoring starts on January 15th, so start getting photos of your score sheets that week.
Scoring starts on SUNDAY and ends on SATURDAY each week. If you bowl Saturday get your scores in by Sunday morning 8AM. If your scores arent in by the time I update the bracket around 9AM, you will be scored as a 0 or No Score.

Use the form on the tournament page to submit your scores ---> Tournament Page

You do not have to declare what league you are scoring from before starting, but you must use the same league each week.

Get to know your opponent now.
Good luck J_w73, I've averaged 233 over the last 2 weeks and 234 over the last month. :)
Good luck to everyone, this is always fun and will be an interesting 4 weeks.

Yes, good luck! My totals have been ok (making average), just very inconsistent from game to game.
Glad this is a 3 game series total pins...

I've been banning them one by one on the webserver, and its slowing down.
Hopefully it will be less, or will stop next week.
Apparently reCAPCHA isnt enough to stop spammers now.

I've seen some security where you have to select all pics of images with trees or mountains, etc... in them. not sure if those are any better.

When do the scores get posted? Do they get posted as soon as the people fill out the form or are they all posted on sunday at the same time or people need to vote on that?

I am not sure what that lingo means? 3 pack of 8? Does that mean 8 in a row 3 times? Anyone have any idea what preoaks shot or how to look him up in the leaguesecretary thing. Hell I can't even look up the nick on this chat as it looks like it doesn't even exist when you do a search.
