PittKrewBowling wrote: I have only bowled in Sport Compliant Leagues since 2005. It's working out wonderfully! I'm not a league bowler for the money, so I could care less what the payout is at the end of the year. The payout for me is that I have drastically improved in PBA Regionals since sport patterns are the only patterns my game ever sees. Went to Nationals in Baton Rouge for the first time ever and I almost hit the floor at the bracket payout booth! Bottom line is this: If you practice on patterns that are harder than they are supposed to be, then you be well prepared at Nationals or PBA Regionals
I wouldn't mind the challenge, I've played other sports and compete in states and nationals, however at my age, it about fun and a little challenge... if you bowled on our house shot you'd be challenged some nights, hence my average dropping from 220 to 210. For numerous reasons... we sometimes get ridiculous conditions.
I just wonder what percentage of bowlers out there in leagues are interested in bowling PBA regionals and nationals ? Extremely low I assume, considering the lack of sport leagues and sport league bowlers.

The percentage is very very low - That's why PBA Experience Leagues are fizzling as well as PBA Regional entries... Most ppl go to Nationals to party and some go to compete. LOL

You get 13:1? Holy SHIT! I can't imagine what it would be like bowling on that... we're more like 5:1 and our oiler is mentally incompetent and somehow will do things like let the oiler run out of oil such that you end up at 25 on one lane and 15 on the other in frame 1.
kwettig wrote:I agree completely. There are sometimes when I lay an egg on our house pattern. But at 13:1 it's hard to not shoot a high score sometimes. I can throw it everywhere and still shoot a 700.
This summer I started a PBA league and had about 25 people try it. By the end, only the bowlers that didn't have huge egos were left. And most of them are dramatically better bowlers this season. I won high average by a single pin over a guy that averages upwards of 225 on our house shot. I averaged 179...
I don't really care if I shoot a high set on a house pattern anymore. It's become almost meaningless to me. I did, however, shoot a 670 on Mexico City last Monday in practice and only had 1 bad game over 6 finishing 59 over.
I think it's hard to move people away from 220-230-240 as the high averages but its just a number. Maybe 200 can be great again? It might just help this game.

trackbowler didnt submit, so ICURNVS gets a reprieve from that thumb hole debacle.

Bracket has been updated, good luck to everyone in the quarterfinals.

Good luck to you as well lefty!

Wow, beef, nice bowling on a very tough pattern. That would be about equivalent of me shooting 820 on our pattern!

Thanks kwettig. The patterns are getting tougher and tougher, but I'm excited that I'm holding strong onto my 660s, lol. I can only hope. :)

impressive bowling Beef. With some luck either this summer or next fall I can get a sports shot league running, but I really doubt it as people are having fun tearing up this easy shot.

I found out something this week, dont use 4000 surface on a ball when the lanes have a ton of oil on them. I was experimenting with 500\4000 on my main ball, but must of hit it a tad to hard on the 4000 as it would not make the corner.

Being stubborn I tried to make it work the whole first game and was rewarded with a 152.

Thanks ICURNVS. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to move on. :-\ Instead of looking to get a sport shot league going on, you can suggest what we did for our league. The only time the leagues are a certified "sport" pattern is on position nights, other than that, they are "modified," which usually means between 4:1 and 8:1 (I believe)
