Lower speed rev dominant

Post by rf67pccb »

Without getting into release specs, in general a bowler with speed approximately 15 mph off hand very rev dominant at 400 plus. League pattern medium volume a definite top hat condition with zero conditioner outside of 7-8.

I suggested a short pin layout but he believes that hooks too much. Any brainstorming ideas. He has tried many things and may be close to hanging it up.

Not a viable option. Already at 14# and 13# to light

How’s it too light? They’re rolling it 12mph down lane, not seeing how it’s not viable if they’re thinking about quitting

Pitch changes to lower their rev rate?

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10460

From the post:

* To Decrease Rev Rate - add 1/8 reverse to both fingers and 1/8 forward to thumb

Increasing the speed 2-3 mph or going to 13# are not happening. What about semi fingertip or closer to conventional to reduce revs by 75 or so? Any success stories out there? We are both older bowlers and he is very discouraged, but he is experiencing a terrible over/under reaction on all local house conditions. I really feel his pain. I overcame this problem with high angles and short pins, however he feels this does not work for him. His rev rate is just way to high and is problematic for sure. HELP?????

If you're going to change his grip why not go with the pitch changes above instead of semi fingertip/conventional and see how that effects him?

Rorey, is decreasing revs a viable option?
Just wondering.

One way

Another way, using a wrist device.

On a tangent, different sport but similar principal, that is less becoming more.

"He began to sacrifice speed for accuracy. Slowly, Koufax gained control of his unruly fastball. Koufax explained his transformation in John Grabowski's book, Sandy Koufax, saying that he became a good pitcher when he stopped trying to make batters miss the ball and started trying to make them hit it." After which Sandy dominated the National league for 6 years until arthritis forced retirement.

Maybe try a lower end ball. Something with a Higher Rg, Lower differential and a Weaker cover if he is unwilling to change his delivery and/or the area of the lane where he is playing.
