Original Undrilled Faball Hammer Wheel price please?

Post by Maxxspag »

Hi there.

I’m based in the U.K. and have recently returned to bowling (185 average) after approx. 10 years off and I have found some old balls I’d put into storage.

My pro shop guy said of the 3 Hammer undrilled balls I found ( black widow bite / black widow solid / hammer wheel) the most potentially desirable is the Hammer Wheel.
Specs are:
Asymmetrical.
4 inch pin. (Pro CG?)
14.11 pounds.
TW 1.25 oz.
Undrilled

If possible can anyone assist with an approximate price for the Wheel please?

Also would it be better to sell these Undrilled 3 balls and start again with the Black widow 2.0 & Hammer Ghost Pearl ? Have lanes, oil patterns made these older releases ‘inadequate’ for today’s conditions?

My old arsenal was:
BLack widow bite.
BLack widow solid.

Thanks for reading and thank you in advance for any advice.

Welcome to BowlingChat.

If you can provide some of the information mentioned in the following, it will help folks give you their best opinion.
Though you are not asking for layout information per se, your metrics would indicate balls that would fit your game.

I've been out of bowling for too many years to render an opinion on equipment.

These releases are new enough and have enough technology in them that will still work in today's environments.

I would Not pay as much for the Wheel as any of the new releases from Hammer.
It originally sold for $99.

This one sold for $248.88

While the Wheel is kind of special (particle ball) it is not any better than the current line up.
Hammer wasn't even proud enough of it to list it in the Retired balls list on their website.

If the particle coverstock is what you are looking for the Hammer Obsession has that.
If it is the High differential the Black Widow 2.0 has that.

I could not find the Mass Bias (Hot Spot) value for the Wheel.
It would be nice to know what you are starting with before drilling it.

Hi. Thank you for the quick replies. Very helpful indeed.
Looking at what’s currently available from Hammer I’m going to try the Black Widow 2.0 first. I don’t know my layout info off hand at the moment but I can reply Thursday after seeing my pro shop guy.

I may list the Faball / Hammer wheel on eBay unless there is a better place to try to sell it. I’m not sure exactly what a particle cover stock is but I’ll do some research ASAP. I’ve always had Hammer balls in my arsenal dating back to my first OG blue hammer when I was younger. After this recent time away I’m surprised how many balls are in their range.

Thanks again. Regards. Max
