Symm Ball Layout
This is a pic from the 2019 Silver manual. I must have missed something in my education about the importance of the CG placement!

Re: Symm Ball Layout
USBC at its best.
Call it the placebo effect. Some bowlers will believe their ball is hooking earlier.
Just tell the customer it will hook earlier and then recommend a dull surface as well.

Wow! I am taking my Silver next month with Del and have intentions to mark out each and every mistake like this that the manual has...

You'll enjoy Del, but make sure you take plenty of highlighters

Re: Symm Ball Layout
I assume this update is a result of the USBC rule change regarding balance holes.
Section 4 - Drilling Patterns and Layouts of the previous manual gave examples of layouts for symmetrically-cored balls. Even that manual had an illustration error on page 4-22. The example was for Low Pin - No Balance Hole - Smoothest Break-point layout, and, of course, the illustration showed a balance hole!
The illustration that matches yours in my previous version of the manual was Low Pin with Balance Hole - Medium Break-point. And, there was no mention of the CG in that entire chapter, but it was marked in those illustrations, too.
I don't remember any test questions involving the specifics of layouts.
Tony, my limited experience with bringing errors to the USBC's attention is that they fall on deaf ears ... just sayin'
Oh, and bring plenty of pencils and a big note pad to Del's class - he's intense (I could listen to him for hours because he's so interesting).

Re: Symm Ball Layout
Taking lessons with Del is super cool, took the KCMP Master of Direction course with him and Ruben giving the presentation and it’s like being in a bowling nerd’s Disneyland... The way Alex explains is pretty neat too, very ingenious and smart guy, teaches in a fun way with fewer carefully chosen words and develops some very neat gadgets.
All this is fun and trying to edit USBCs manual is a good exercise
