Ciminelli ditches Motiv
A little old, but still worth discussing.
I remember when he signed and said that it was about being better compensated for wins/big finishes. I didn't think it was a good match up and wondered how big of a hit he would take.
Looks like it was a big one.
Now, here's the next question......
Who does he match up with best and where does he end up?

Re: Ciminelli ditches Motiv
According to him it’s the PBA lane man. He said before the new guy was hired, he won 5 times in 8 months. Since then, zero cuts. And has cashed in the 4 USBC events where the lane man wasn’t there.

Re: Ciminelli ditches Motiv
Let's see which is more plausible....
1) New lane guy creates patterns specifically designed to take you out
2) You switch ball companies and, after 2 dismal seasons, you realize don't match up in any way, shape, or form.
When in doubt, blame the lane guy. *headshake*

Well if you follow a bunch of pros on social media, He’s not the only one to state this. He finishes top 10 in all the international and USBC led events, top 5 in all his Regionals this year. So he just matches up in USBC and International events but not PBA?

Re: Ciminelli ditches Motiv
In his defense, other than Butturff, the lefties have had nothing this year. Svensson has even dropped off after his ridiculous start.
I think Buttuff's rev rate/ball roll combo gives him something that just isn't there for the handful of lefties still pounding their heads against the well.
Back to Ciminelli....I questioned the move given the success he had with Brunswick. I realize he took a gamble on himself, but he seemed to fall ll in love with one ball (Venom Shock) and that's not enough. Just wonder if the contract he got blinded him.
Next few weeks should be interesting. He'll probably have to take a smaller contract, but he might get another incentive laden one with a company that matches up better.

Re: Ciminelli ditches Motiv
one thing to remember.....The PBA is an organization of people........they may like you OR they may not. They may like your style of bowling OR they may not. They may like the type of equipment you use OR they may not. Been going on not long after it's inception.

1) New lane guy creates patterns specifically designed to take you out Nah. BUT, lane conditions as they are, and have been for a while, have inadvertently affected scoring potential on the left side. I noticed several years ago there had been a long dry spell of any lefty winning. I remember seeing one time frame of almost 2 years between lefty wins. Then a few years ago a lefty would win here and there. Recent years they win a "little" more often but not much. I believe some folks realized how lopsided things were and took action, although limited (controlled ?). Also lefties are figuring out some things that has helped scoring but not consistently reliable. Additionally, if lane guy creates new patterns I would think there is an approval process prior to implementation to give some sort of sense of fairness.
2) You switch ball companies and, after 2 dismal seasons, you realize don't match up in any way, shape, or form. probably hard to match up with anything on that side
When in doubt, blame the lane guy. *headshake* lane guy still has a boss and lane guy still has to make a living.

Just messin with you Eric
Hey, kidding aside Radical has some very good balls that would roll good for his speedy style...

I get the feeling he burned a bridge with how he left Brunswick. That being said, with how the left side seems to be out there, he needs a Purple Hammer in his hand.

Re: Ciminelli ditches Motiv
Maybe the lane guy figured out how to lay out patterns that would break down in a similar fashion to that of the right side? That would mess with any lefty's head.

What about Amletto leaving Ebonite for Brunswick? I thought I would never see him throw a Radical ball.

Ameletto rolled Hammer for a while, way back when.

Re: Ciminelli ditches Motiv
It could be coincidental that his change in ball company coincides with the timing of the start of the new lane man. The stats that Ryan states sound solid. I new some guys on tour back in the day that said the PBA didn't like a certain individual who was running away the field in a lot of tournaments. It was known that the lanes started getting set up to block him.

Pretty good interview here. RC does a good job of saying "Motiv makes good stuff, but just doesn't match up with me"
