Layout Help

Post by Clueless »

For Eric or anyone who wishes to respond:
After viewing Mo's Effective Modern Layouts, Vol. I, I concluded that I want the PSA on the VAL using either the Katana Legend or Conspiracy.
My Specs:
PAP 4 13/16 - 1 up
Rot. 75
Tilt 18
Speed 19 at release
RR 295
On synthetic lanes on THS.
My computations are :
SS - 85
Ratio - 1:1.25
Benchmark 40/4 1/4/ 45
Control 40 4 1/4/ 65
L & S 60 4 1/4/ 45
Now using a Tremendous Pearl 35 4 1/4 25 with P3 hole
What layout do I use to get the PSA on the VAL?
Thank you.

You understand that layout is going to get the ball rolling forward early and not shape much on the backend right?
Mostly used for longer, flatter oil patterns or excessive tilt and rotation cases, which you are not.

To get the Stamped PSA on your VAL depends on Pin to PAP distances and VAL angles.

The longer the Pin to PAP the Smaller the Drilling Angle will need to be
The larger the VAL Angle the Larger the Drilling Angle

With your PAP a 4 1/4" pin to PAP and 25* VAL Angle like your Tremendous, the drilling angle would need to be 15*

30-5-60 Pin in the middle finger short sport layout will be a PSA on the VAL

MegaMav:
Thanks for the response. I guess your saying that putting the PSA on the VAL would not be a good idea for me! Looking at the Pin to Spin line it obviously revs up early. Would you recommend the PSA between the thumb and VAL as a good alternative?

Thank you.

Eric:
Would you agree with MegaMav that the PSA on VAL would not be a great layout for my specs?

Also what recommendation would you have at this time?

Thank you.

Conspiracy: 50 x 4.5 x 40 @ 1000 surface would shape nicely for you.
Avoid shiny surfaces with your speed dominance.
You are 90* sums on that kind of ball because it is so strong in cover and core.

Yes I am in agreement with MegaMav.

I tried to show with my examples how extreme the layouts would be as compared to what you listed with the basic arsenal layouts based off your specs.

30-5-60 Pin in the middle finger would be the only layout that would remotely fit your specs. It will be an early forward rolling layout without much shape. It would definitely be a very condition specific ball that you would probably be disappointed with unless you have it in your arsenal just for the Cheetah or Wolf pattern. Even then you will need to alter your release to be successful on such short patterns.
High rotation and short patterns is a tough combination.

Eric & Megamav:
Thank you both for your Input. In the video Mo makes it appear that you just put the PSA on the VAL and off you go. I guess you should follow the process outlined in selecting the proper layout. I will follow the suggestion and see what happens.
