Axis tilt and axis rotation changes?

Post by jih »

When you play inside line, do you need to change your axis tilt and axis rotation? or do you keep them the same? I am wearing a wrist supporter.

My axis tilt changed from 25* to now 13* I don't know why?

Thanks,
Right Handed
PAP 4.5" up 1/2"
65* rotation
25* tilt
250-275 rev rate
14-15 mph

I will take a shot at getting the ball rolling.
I hope this is close to the truth and helpful.
As with anything I offer "Trust but verify"!
Like many, I am here to learn.

First of all keep this in mind,
The ZONE of strongest hits

Always practice with your PAP marked and clearly visible. Watching from a rear view may give you YOUR answer as too why the tilt changed.
Hum a tune to yourself, listen for inflection changes and differences.

As you know, tilt and rotation are 2 of the variables that impact length and reaction (mellow to sharp), other variables being speed, and equipment. A more complete answer would be any combination or single thing that gets your ball to arrive at the pocket as it's axis rotation is 0 and its tilt is barely over 0, that would be Hook-out, 0 and 0 would be roll out.
I personally refer to that as the maturation of ball motion ...

This short YouTube video is a very nice of the effect of tilt and rotation components. (Tilt being relative to the balls equator)

Hold a small bottle of water in the palm of your hand as if you were going to roll it, cap on the pinky side, bottom on the thumb side (cap will be an imaginary PAP).
Now to show some cause, tilt the pinky side. Wrist cock governs tilt. Do all kinds of things with that bottle including mimicking releasing it in various distances from your slide foot side to side and front to back, straight swing or circuitous swing. See what you see.
Use mirrors as a visual side.
