PAP Coordinates 7 over and 1/3/4 up is possible ?

Post by PlainUgly »

Hi,

a new clubmember wants a new ball, so we collected his data.

righthanded
Speed: 18,5 mph off hand
Revs:275
AT: 23 ° ( 10 inch initial track diameter, but was a bit blurry )
AR: app. 45 °

Think he is a speed dominant semi roller, his track is about 3/4" away from MF hole and about 1/4" from thumb

PAP coordinates are 7" over and 1 3/4 up from GC

Now im a little confused, cause i ever thought 6 3/4 " is maximum, leading to be a "thumper" ..... how a track can be 7" away while tilt is about 23° ??

5-6" = high track player
4-5" = mediumtrack player....
< 4" = spinner...

Did i understand something wrong ?

Layout advice for him ? ( 14pound Elite Warrior ) benchmark

Thanks for help !

Its either an over rolled full roller or the PAP was measured on the wrong side of the ball.
To be an over rolled full roller you need to throw it like kaka.

well, thanks but i cant imagine. Over rolled full roller has to have negative tilt, right ?

His tilt was measured from the diameter of the initial track on the left side of the ball ( fingerholes up, thumb down) which is the opposite hemisphere of the PAP.

His PAP was determined and checked by tape several times, its dead accurate....on an old urethane low flare ball that almost did not flare.... so measured from GC its this unbelievable 7 + 1 3/4 up ccordinates.

If he would have negative tilt, its initial track would be on the same side as the PAP, right ? ...what would look like a lefthanded drilling...... but it definately looks like a common high track for a righthander..

*confused"

Initial track location is not a true indicator. Combine the track location and the PAP and then you can determine the Tilt which is the true indicator of the type of bowler you are working with.

Yes he has a high track But he is more of a spinner with High Tilt.

When I model his PAP and track location it shows there is an error in what you are seeing/measuring.
With the initial track 1/4" from the thumb and 3/4" from the finger the up coordinate can only be about 1" up. The error is not so far off and still pretty close. There is error in the release as well.

With that said I always start with the Benchmark and work from there.

Sweetspot 80* Totals and 1:1 Ratio
Benchmark 40-4.5-40

When you order the ball make sure it has lower top weight. Most any layout for him on Asymmetrical equipment is going to have the Cg kicked way out to the side.

I would go with the Long and Strong layout 60-4.5-40 for the Warrior
Eric Hartwell

Right Handed
PAP 4.75" up 1/2"
45* rotation
12* tilt
330 rev rate
16 mph off hand
