Question about total angle values and my style

Post by Belvey »

I took a break from bowling for a couple years and decided to re evaluate my game and release and incorporate dual angle layouts on new equipment

My stats are:
Right handed
16.00 on the monitor, measured about 50 feet down the lane with old urethane
380-440 what ive estimated
high rotation 55-75
guesstimated tilt 18-20
pap right now is undetermined, im sure its change from last measurment and that was 3-3/4 and 1/2 up, if id Have to guess im prolly around 4 to 4-1/4 and 1/4 up
so i guess it would be ok to say that would be more rev dominated
conditions are going to vary since im planning on bowling tournaments on more variety of shots, more than likely sport-challenge patterns

what would you suggest I use as total angle values and pin to pap?
I personally love and live for being deep in the lane unless i have to play straight like flatter patterns

note will be drilling a hyroadx just like my hyroad and in doing so will be also re measuring my pap and tilt

Welcome to BowlingChat and back to bowling

Estimated release specs will only get you estimated layouts.
You sound like you want to do this correctly. Accurate release specs is the right way to go about this.

Obviously you like your old HyRoad wanting to drill a new HyRoad X the same way.
Personally I would get the release specs first and evaluate if you want to change the layout or not.

I guess estimate would be the wrong way to word it. I tend to change my release and line before i make a major ball change. I personally love the inside line, the more luanch angle i can create the easier i can score.

i'll list the specs of the release I use pretty much mainly.

15.2mph measured around 50ft i believe, also did a stopwatch method with a video it was about 2.73 seconds
400-420 revs
20 degrees tilt
60 degrees rotation

only way i could be more accurate i believe is getting a nice camera and using a software to put a overlay on the video for the tilt and rotation
Also want to point out that I know my pap has change by the fact on one of my balls i made a mark with a knife where it was in case i forgot. When i placed the tape on it again a couple months ago the tape was slightly off, since i wasnt able to measure with a prosect at the time i forgot about it. but i know it didnt change drastically enough to make a huge difference on my current layouts so im not really hugely concerned. but then again that could have been human error. My style hasnt changed in a few years even with the 2 year break. also coming up on 3 and half years was when i had my released and ball motion analysed. I feel pretty confident to say those stats are correct.

Having a versatile release makes for easy arsenal set up in my opinion. Use the center of the Dual Angle Ratio guide and build around the 1:1 ratio.

http://wiki.bowlingchat.net/wiki/index. ... atio_Guide" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sweetspot 100* totals, 1:1 Ratio

Asymmetrical Layouts
Totally Strong ........... 50-5-30
Midlane .................... 30-4.5-50
Benchmark ............... 50-4-50
Long and Strong ........ 70-4-50
Control ..................... 50-3.5-70
low flare ................... 70-2.5-50

Symmetrical Layouts
Benchmark ............... xx-4-45
Control ..................... xx-4-5-65
low flare (high Rg) ..... xx-5-35
low flare (low Rg) ...... xx-2.25-45

Actually similar to what I thought i gathered from reading information about dual angles and the totals sums.

im excited to do some shopping adn start filling the holes i have in my bag, also want to note. That if i covereted the pin buffer layout on my hyroad to dual angle and remember correctly. It is really close to the benchmark layout.

Thanks for your help!
