Lane pattern overhead views
I have shown these to some lanemen/mechanics, and some where thrilled, some where lanemen, who knew exactly how the lanes would play based on just the numbers.
Coaches and players might be the people I should show this to.
My initial goal was to make a sheet that showed where the oil was on my Kegel Kustodian Plus, after making one for our old AMF Summit which we replaced in October 2017. Things went as they often do with me, and I overdid it.
So now, I got one sheet for Kegel Sanction (supports dual tanks, variable buffer and multi µL), one for Brunswick Direct+, and one for Kegel Crossfire and DBA Phoenix (supports 6 and 8 pads, custom pad widths, so far only symmetrical/mirrored pad setups).
When I ended up with three, and partly the plan behind the Direct+ sheet, was to make the two (now three) as close to realistic as possible, and to make them as similar as possible.
Kegels original sheet shows where the oil is put down, which doesn't tell the whole story. Brunswick doesn't even have an overhead except the colorful zone overhead, which again, doesn't tell the whole story. Pad machines are the same too, they only tell where the oil is put out.
The sheets are far from perfect, which is impossible, as there are way too many factors, but they will always tell a bowler how the pattern looks like, or very close to.
So, what do you guys think?

Re: Lane pattern overhead views
I have asked before, I do again. Is it possible to get a lightbox/shadowbox addon on the forum, so we don't have to be limited to 720px width on linked images?
I do have the PDFs of the sheets, as well as larger JPG images, but I can't upload them here in an easy way..

We will be going thru an upgrade sometime soon.JJakobsen wrote:I have asked before, I do again. Is it possible to get a lightbox/shadowbox addon on the forum, so we don't have to be limited to 720px width on linked images?
We're going to be upgrading from php 5.6 to 7.2 and with that comes a forum upgrade.
I need to keep the code changes to a minimum as the forum upgrade will require a complete reinstall.
You can upload PDFs and pictures here, no problem, use the upload section of the posting screen.

Yeah if this is still on phpBB(1), it is a big jump to phpBB 3.2! And a fair bit more features and addons too, so it'll be great! Just be glad you aren't running phpBBNuke, that shit was not fun. We had to just delete everything and make a new website, database couldn't be converted to any other forum type but phpBBNuke, which was outdated 5 years prior to me joining that community..MegaMav wrote: We will be going thru an upgrade sometime soon.

Re: Lane pattern overhead views
I should mention:
These sheets are 100% automatic, which means that all data I need for these to work is what you need to punch in on the machine or in KOSI/Pattern Manager. For Brunswick, I need each board for each zone, and zone lengths. From that it makes this sheet. Of course, stuff like name and all that info CAN be added like I have, but you don't need it for it to show how the pattern looks on the lane.

The jump to 3.2 is a full replacement of code along with a database upgrade.
The reputation system is a mod and not compatible, so that will be removed.
This will be a very simple website after the upgrade, forum and wiki only, which are the 2 most used parts of the website.
Unsure on the date yet, likely sometime over the summer offseason.

Re: Lane pattern overhead views
Ah I thought you were on phpBB1, usually it says the version down in the bottom, so I assumed.
3.0 to 3.2 is a major version change. Too bad that the rep system goes. But I know loads of website using similar systems on phpBB, so there must be some addon you can use that is being updated regularly? Doesn't have to be "Rep", could be "Thanks" or "Like" I guess.

Yes. I would like to keep it as simple as possible.JJakobsen wrote:Ah I thought you were on phpBB1, usually it says the version down in the bottom, so I assumed.

Since Mo & Friends left us unannounced volume of traffic has been light.
If the demand dictates, I'll add features. Wiki has had 2 changes in it in over a year, to put it in perspective.
