Urgent layout help needed!

Post by stevespo »

This "Super LV" classic was advertised as a "hook monster" and "huge backend". It's a high RG sym with a modest differential (resolves slowly on the Determinator).

Using a standard pin up layout, but I can't seem to carry the corner pins on my THS. I've already done an oil extraction and brought the surface to 180 grit. Considering plugging it and reducing the DA/VAL ratio to get it to read earlier and carry better. Possibly a P3.5/P4 would help.

Any other ideas for me? Thanks,

Steve

I'll bite.
This could be the original Double thumb layout.

I think you have the ball layed out upside down and are using the wrong thumb hole. It is drilled for a full roller. No wonder you can't carry the corner pins.

If you can't get it to read the lane with 180 grit finish layout isn't going to help.

I suggest you put it back on the rack where you found it and visit the urethane ball thread for some slightly newer ideas for vintage equipment.
