What axis rotation and tilt creates this most strikes?

Post by modernedgefitness »

What axis rotation and tilt degree creates the most carry?

Has there been research study done on this in conjunction with angle of entry?

Welcome to the site, I moved your post in order that you could get more response.

There is a lot of information in the WIKI.

I think like everything else in life, you'll find there is no magical formula to success.

Ther have been many different styles over the years that have had success.

You need to define who you are as a bowler and how to achieve success with your style.

As Lee Trevino, a great golfer with a unique style once said "If you want to learn how to play golf successfully, you need to learn how to dig the ball out of the dirt".

I think the poster was looking for specific numbers. But as everyone knows, there is no magic formula to really dictate success. Take a look at someone like Walter Ray. He is considered arguably the greatest bowler ever. Yet his game is very simple. Low rotation and tilt, up the boards at a medium to high speed. Than look at the other end of the spectrum of someone like Belmonte. Average rotation and tilt, but also a lot of speed and rev rate. Of course there's everyone in between those two that have some level of success.

The common connection between those two players even though they are extremes of one another? Consistency. Walter Ray can split boards all day and for the most part leave single pin spares which for him and every top pro are near automatic conversions. Belmo on the other hand because of his power can create area when there is a seemingly tough shot. Also PDW is the exception to the rule creating area and great reaction due to his ball roll.

I think the best answer in my opinion is to play what the lanes give and use the proper rotation and tilt for that pattern to score well.

Less than 10* axis tilt, around 30-45* axis rotation, 600 rpms, 22 mphs, urethane up the boards, left side...

I stand by my simple statement.....be you, nobody can do you like you can!

You need to define who you are as a bowler and how to achieve success with your style.

When evaluating bowlers, I like to see 13-15 degrees AT and 50-60 degrees AR, with balanced speed and revs. Not sure if these are the optimal numbers for striking, but they usually correlate with good ball motion.

Yes, for a well balanced player many balls and layouts become viable options.
