Dear All
Few days ago I noticed that one of the players had an odd looking insert and took a closer look and noticed that the insert was not the usual way if you would look at it straight they were turned a bit to the right (the player was a left hander).
The question is that first could any one tell me that if this is correct or not and if so what are the pros and cons of these kind of inserts and also the main question would that injure the fingers?!
I thank you all in advance for your kind attention and looking forward to hear from you.
Best regards

side way insert?!

Re: side way insert?!
There is no absolutely correct way to orientate inserts. Inserts can be rotated in any direction that gives the bowler the feel they are looking for when swinging or releasing the ball. This is especially true if the bowler is a two hand or no thumb bowler. Other times, it could be due to an injury.

Grips may have been oriented on the bowler's T-line.
Its just how their hand sits on the ball.

Yeah, it's really about comfort. Along the T line is pretty close and works for my ring finger, but the middle finger twists a bit and needs to be oriented more towards the thumb. Makes a big difference for me...

Thank you for your reply and info.
Could you explain to me what is the "T" line?
Also I still need to know that if these twisted inserts can bring injury to the finger or the risk of injury?
I thank you for all the info.
Best regards

I put the grips in and tell the customer to grip the ball and then rotate the grips to where they feel best, then I glue them in. -- JohnP

Re: side way insert?!
I like John's method. The most important thing is comfort.
Here's my typical layout. The white lines are used to drill the finger pitches at a 22* angle off of the centerline. It's just more comfortable for me with my hand laying on the ball that way. Naturally, I orient the inserts to more closely match that CLT line, but it's not exact because one finger does twist a bit to the side.
Lining them up off the traditional centerline/midline (yellow) wouldn't make sense for me personally. Works great for many people, tho.
