We're looking for a Wiki Documentor!

Hello BowlingChat.net,

Since the website is growing at an amazing rate (Thanks Mo!) and new facts and information are coming to light everyday, I alone cannot keep up with editing and adding to the wiki, as well as my other duties in keeping this website and BowlingBallVault.com up to date.
I need some help to keep up.

We're looking for a couple of people that are ambitious to learn about the wiki, its editing tool and add to it on request from Mo & Friends crew.
You should be a regular (preferably daily) visitor to the website and have at least a basic understanding of how html type of tagging works.
Basic meaning, I know information between <b> and </b> will be bolded.

I would teach each interested person the basics behind the wiki and how to add and edit articles within it.

This would be a tremendous help to the community and the sport.
If you're interested in helping us, please reply to this thread or PM me on the side via message or the chat bar.

Thanks in advance,

-Eric

I'll do what I can. I don't tend to know what needs to go up or not, so if something is brought to light, just let me know I'll try to get it up as quick as I can.

Thanks,
Kelly

If you feel you can help in other ways, like uploading pictures to articles, or adding youtube videos that already exist, please do.

We appreciate all contributions, big or small.

Just a clarification:

Through a few PM's ive gotten, some were surprised they could go in and edit the wiki without any special permission.
Every user on here has the ability to add to and edit the wiki materials.
All you need is your forum ID and password, and login to the wiki.
Do not be afraid to make a mistake, everything is reversable to a previous save point very easily.

The only thing that you cannot do is delete articles and protect articles.
This needs to be done by a wiki admin, like myself, Paul, and Steve.

I hope this clarification will encourage everyone to contribute to the wiki.

Thanks in advance, and please let me know if you have any questions.

I am a little computer illiterate except for searching. I will try to do my best. I am still learning the pro shop business from Earl Berger and hopefully soon from John Jameson.

We're still looking for people to help out.
Here is a quick start guide I created for anyone interested in adding or editing wiki articles.
Quickstart Guide wrote: Login to the wiki using your username and password from the forum. The login is in the upper right hand corner of the wiki screen.

To add new articles, all you need to do is make a link to a new article on the appropriate page parent page: New Article Name
Click on the link you created to edit the new page.

For uploading content, bmp, jpg, png, gif, pdf, xls, doc, use the upload utility: http://wiki.bowlingchat.net/wiki/index. ... ial:Upload" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

After you've uploaded the file, you can reference pictures with the image tag Image, this generates a thumbnail with the size you specify. (on the edit toolbar):

For PDF, XLS, DOC files, use the internal image tag with the PDF swatch: Image
File link descriptor

Youtube video:
There is a button for youtube videos, Image just click it and put in the VIDEOID from the URL on the youtube video.
You can also specify the size.
This plugin has HD enabled on the videos by default.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;XITHbsUUlYI

These are the basics to get you started.
Please note that most of your editing can be done using the edit toolbar at the top of the text box.

Just highlight what you want to format, and press the corresponding button.

You really dont need these guides below, unless you're brave and want to do something fancy.
A guide on other wiki tags and markups we can use see the wikipedia pages, since we have exactly the same software:

Tags/Markups:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Wiki_markup" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

How to edit:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... dit_a_page" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Complete editing guide:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Conte ... _Wikipedia" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Let me know if you have any questions, thanks for being a part of this.

I'm on here often enough to contribute some, I'm somewhat html/css/javascript literate. Hopefully I'll have a little more free time after I get our fairly new shop under control and everything done the way it ought to be. I haven't used a wiki before but I'm sure I will learn after I play around with it a little bit!
