Please read all of the rules before signing up (See link below)
It is a 5 week competition among BowlingChat members that sign up.
We take the top 32 averages.
Registration is now open and will only be open until January 8th.
Scoring begins on January 15th.
If you are overseas, and not part of USBC and would like to participate, you can prove your average with online verification with me, and I will submit your entry manually, just PM me.

No matter your average, if you are interested in participating, please do sign up.
We have had a number of BIG upsets in the past, including a 32 beating a 1, so anything is possible.

Couldn't you verify games by the leaguesecretary thing? So this is open to the top 32? and what would be considered in the top 32 210? Book average from last year or average from this year over 21 games? Mine is 187 last year but currently 211 and climbing fast (but need to drop it back down lol).

Not everyone has leaguesecretary.
Top 32 based on USBC average.
Sign up if you're interested. Its NOT handicapped. In year's past a 32 seed has upset a 1.

Probably almost everyone is in more then 1 league, shouldn't the scores come from 1 league? They shouldn't get to bowl in 2-3 leagues and then pick the best "day" they had and use it right?

You wrote there was a #32 that beat a #1 do you mean like for 1 game or do you mean the person that was #32 ended up winning it all? Anyone can have a bad day and a good day and I can see that happening but if the #32 end up winning it all that was pretty big.

Each round is a 3 game set. Was fortunate to make the Finals last time and had a blast.

Just something fun to pass the winter months with. You never know.. there are nights those 230 guys shot 590.

RULE #6

by krava
I think Rule #6 needs to be more descriptive. From what it says "post scores from the first 3 games you bowl". I am not sure what that means. What I am scared of is these people that bowl 3-4 times a week. They can take the best series out of that 1 week and then claim that. Once they claim that, I understand that they have to stick with that 1 league. For people that only bowl in 1 league. That person only has 1 chance and not 3-4 chances that week to do good. What I suggest is that either #1 The first 3 games is the first 3 games that you bowl in the first of the week. Starting Monday if you bowl monday, then the monday league is the league that you have to enter in. The downside is that if someone is doing a "sport league" their average and games will be lower. I suggest the #2 option is that the person must choose which league they want to choose from before this match play thing starts. So that away it is more fair for people that only bowl 1 or 2 times a week to those that bowl alot per week and can choose their highest score that week to use, or atleast to start with. I think that alot of people will be against that since most on here bowl several times a week and been bowling for decades with alot of advantage :)

"post scores from the first 3 games you bowl" I believe that pertains to leagues that bowl more than a 3 game series (EX. If you bowl on A trios league that bowls a 4 game series, you would drop the 4th game and just post the first 3 games).

as for your option #2

Since most everyone's leagues have already started, their going choose the league they already average highest on or normally score higher on now.

Their not going to pick a league they happen to have the highest series on that night of the first week of matchplay. (Say to Just to knock out their opponent that first week )

That might be their lowest average league and not what they normally score on it. It would be silly to pick a league that you'd be stuck with, that you normally don't score well on just because of one good night bowling on it. It wouldn't serve them in the long run.

The option you should have suggested was that if you bowl on more than one league, you have to submit the scores from the league you have the highest average on at the time of the start of the matchplay tournament. (EX. similar to like when you have to use your highest book average to enter a regular tournament).

4. You shall post the scores from the same league every week.

Proof of score is required, so everyone will see if its a different league based on web or picture proof.

I understand about the same league every week.

For bowl1820: suppose you have 215 average in one league and 207 in another league. 215 monday 207 thursday. Lets say you had an offer day Monday and you bowl a 580 series. Thursday you did just a tad better then average and got 650. Which one of those leagues would you choose as your start one?
If you pick the 580 one you probably will get beat, so most people would go to the 650 one even though their average is lower on that particular league. I know I would go with that. If the league was picked prior to "challenege" then someone would be forced to go with that other then getting to choose which set of scores to start from and stay from there. Most people have close to the same average at the same house as long as it isn't a sport league vs regular league. Hopefully I made my point. I don't know why people can't choose which league they want before all this starts :)

I understand your point alright, your worried that someone who bowls on more than one league.

Will submit their highest scores that first week from whatever league it was on, Even if it's from their lowest average league.

To try and increase the odds he'll beat the person he's bowling against in the first round.

Because you assume that the different league averages will all be fairly similar and it won't make much difference to him if he has to use that lowest average league scores from then on.

And someone (Like yourself) who only bowls one league, Doesn't have that option and you figure your more likely to get knocked out the first week because of that and you don't think it's fair.

Yes, that could conceivably happen.

But It would all depend on just how that multi league player want's to play the odds for that first round.

Better his odds for a first night win with that lucky (650) good night on the low average league.

Or use the lower scores (580) from the higher average league and hope for the best that first night, because he figures his scores will be better on that league for the following rounds.
I don't know why people can't choose which league they want before all this starts :)
(I believe what you meant to say there was : "I don't know why people are not required to choose which league they want use scores from before all this starts")

Well Mega is the only one that can say why he set the rules up the way he did.

That's the thing with any Tournament rules, you have to read them first before you enter. Then decide if they are fair and that you want to play under them.

We're closing in on a month left.
Plenty of bowlers on this website, why are you not signed up for this?

Signed up.

For those not convinced they have a shot, I have had a book average from 206-220 over the past few years have made the finals one year and the semifinals the next in this event....so don't be afraid to sign up if you're not 225+. As has been said more than once in this thread, a 32 took out a #1. Anything can happen.

I answered off the cuff here.

rolltechbowling.com has a lobby and a button for "private" matches.

see https://ab.rolltechbowling.com/lobby" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or browse
http://www.rolltechbowling.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and find "action bowling".

I have no affiliation with the site, but, have been using it in league to make league more interesting for a year now with no problems.

they can run all the scoring scratch or hdcp. can even have an entry fee if you like. theres brackets, etc...

it uses league secretary and Rolltech centers for verification.

just a thought.

If I remember correctly, I was using 239 that year as the average but chose to use my scores out of the center I was working at and was far tougher to challenge myself
