That's a shockwave file (.swf), Do you have Adobe Flash plugin installed?
You can't open it without that.

Installed Adobe with Mozilla and double check the add-ons to make sure all file types were check and still no luck. I'm guessing it is something simple but can't figure it out. Any more suggestions?

You could install standalone flashplayer program, download the .swf file to your hard drive and run the file with it. In firefox prefferences, you can click on the Applications tab, in the content type column find swf media and in the action column set the option to save file instead of use shockwave flash. It might work. If it doesn't, please contact me.

You can download the last version of flashplayer here: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

I´m also still unable to get ovalator to open in any browser. I have Windows 10 and all the latest updates and flashpalyer plugins installed. I tried the ovalator.bowlingchat.net link and also the older link. Could you share a link to the .swf file so I could download it to my computer and open in locally?

I'm able to run the app from the original location, but getting a 404 (file not found) from http://ovalator.bowlingchat.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. The movie parameter for the flash player seems to be missing or incorrect.

Since flash has stopped working on almost all browsers I found an alternative way to run ovalator on windows.

WINDOWS SETUP
1. Download flashplayer_32_sa.exe
2. Download Ovalator10-abr.swf
3. Run flashplayer_32_sa.exe and open Ovalator10-abr.swf
(No installation required)

CREATE SHORTCUT
1. Put Ovalator10-abr.swf to same folder as flashplayer_32_sa.exe
2. Create shortcut of flashplayer_32_sa.exe to the desktop
3. Rightclick shortcut and open properties
4. Add Ovalator10-abr.swf to the target box after the flashplayer_32_sa.exe path like below:
C:\*my flashplayer location folder*\flashplayer_32_sa.exe Ovalator10-abr.swf
5. Rename shortcut to Ovalator

I am not able to view this. I followed both sets of steps above. I even downloaded a different software file viewer. I am using Windows 10. Any assistance would be appreciated.

don't do this - it installs a flash player on your computer. Flash has been discontinued for very good reason. It's one of the most insecure and hacked platforms in history.

As an IT professional, I rejoiced when support for it finally ceased, when Chrome finally stopped its emulation, and I could remove it from our computers.

SAME HERE, Don’t do it. Developer should learn a new platform.

Incorrect. This is just a standalone flash file (.swf) player and it does not install anything.

If you are unable to make a shortcut then just open the downloaded flashplayer_32_sa.exe and go to File -> open -> and locate the downloaded Ovalator10-abr.swf

then why are you required to download flashplayer_32_sa.exe - a flash player?

Get it OFF FLASH - ANY flash content player is vulnerable to multiple avenues of attack. This is an OLD and very well known issue in IT.

I've been in IT for nearly 30 years and anything worth it as been off Flash or Shockwave for years.

Seems to me that it should be able to be rewritten in java... I'm not a fan of anything written in Flash or Shockwave either.... Too many security issues....

Unfortunately, Java is kinda in the same boat these days. We are eliminating the JDKs from our images this year.

Perhaps Python then? Should be platform independent. I was thinking of VB, but the question becomes other than Wintel platforms, and will it run on older versions of Window..

Don’t know if this will help you but if you have an Apple device download Puffin Web Browser.

Then open the ovalator link in that.

Just worked for me. If I only needed it myself that’s how I’d use it.
