just saw the alley cat ball oven on ebay, the seller has a link to his website.
Watch some of his youtube video's and it looks like he built it out of an electric heating fan and a rotiserrie base. I see it doesn't have as many features like the manufactured ones (no absorbant pad to pick up oil) but it may have potential.
what do you guys think? I would worry (and caution) that home made heating elements run a risk but if you had the oven in a safe area not prone to fire, this could be a way to afford a ball oven.
home made ball oven.

Re: home made ball oven.
That thing worries me. The ball is not rotating and the radiant heat stays on one spot the whole time, regardless of the fan inside moving the air around.

Re: home made ball oven.
I see it rotating, but its only rotating around the vertical axis.
The bottom of the ball stays put, heating isnt even.
You get what you pay for.

I noticed that also. I still like innovative's 2 ball unit with the rollers more, but I think Brunswick unit had the same set up as this guy where is only rotated around the vertical axis. I would assume the rollers did a better job of removing more oil but didn't know how significant it was.MegaMav wrote:I see it rotating, but its only rotating around the vertical axis.
