What are the standard pitches for house balls

Post by TonyPR »

Quick question here, just curious, are there standard pitches for conventional drill house balls?

The nearest to 'standard' I saw was with AMF Smart Ball. They came in XXS XS S M L XL and XXL

Yeah but those are spans and hole sizes. What I mean is are they 3/8, 3/8 laterals with 1/4 forward fingers and 0” lateral with 1/4 forward thumb or something in the like or do people who drill them actually follow the chart for span and thumb linear relation? Talking about house balls here

Tony,

I am really NOT trying to be a wise-guy here, but you may have to load up your pitch gauges and check them out for yourself. Brunswick has the myBall System that places these house balld into 7 size categories, so I am guessing that you would have to take 7 ball measurements.
I went out searching for that stuff at one time and came up with zip, and I am not sure what "standard" would be for them. None of the centers around here have any new house balls, so I don't know how they were drilled in the past. Bowlers here just run up and down the racks until they find a ball they like. One center has a fitting ball on the counter, but I never see anyone actually use it. I fiddled with it once, and never could find a combination for my smaller, longer fingers, and fairly large oval thumb - LOL!

Tony,

I, for one, would be very interested in your findings as I am too lazy to do it for myself (LOL).
