Right now, my Roto Grip Cell is my go-to ball on ANY pattern... House shot, Sport shot, PBA, you name it, it works fantastic. Its got roughly 1000 games on it at this point in time, and i've taken care of it greatly, and done plenty of hot water baths, but it seems to be losing its reaction. My PAP is 4 5/8 x 5/8 up. Its drilled with pin 4" x 90 degrees with pin below ring finger, cg stacked. I'm looking to replace the cell, with something thats cleaner through the heads, and give a strong move to the pocket. Right now, i'm looking at the Rogue Cell, Dimension, Hy-Road, Siege, Virtual Gravity...

I'm looking for suggestions here. With the same drilling i have on my cell, which ball would give me what i'm looking for the most??

The Cell is kind of in a legue of its own. If you like your Cell they are still available. If you have to get something different i recall you said something similair bu cleaner through the heads I would say stay in the Family and look at the Rogue or Pearl.

Matt's right. The Cell is the best replacement.

By the way, the Cell is an asymmetric. It's the MB whose position you are concerned with, not the CG.

The Dimension is Storm's equivalent (not identical). Its reaction and oil handling would be similar, not identical.

To be perfectly honest, I have not seen anything remotely as good as the Cell for control and continuation. It's core is designed such that the flare rings are the same consistent distance from one another on each ball, time after time. That makes a huge difference in consistency and continuation. It's the biggest hooker; the Rogue Cell is already its successor, but the cover is different, making the ball different.

To take a dangerous step forward, I'd rank the Cell with the Danger Zone and the V2 Sanded in its effect on bowling and bowlers.

I kind of want to leave my Cell reply as it is.

Oops, just noticed you want cleaner thru the heads .... Hmmmm.

The Siege is a ball that has a ton of potential. 2 friends are using it, with drastically different styles but excellent results. Drilling and surface will control how well it clears the heads, with similar oil handling and overall hook to the Cell.

There are a few 4000 grit Abralon finished solids with asymmetric cores that will do this, like the Virtual Gravity but they have little in similarity to the Cell's reaction. In fact, most, if drilled correctly, are very different. In the same way the Rogue Cell is different from the Cell. Two very different reactions, not the same at all.

None of these will offer the control of the Cell.

Another option is the AMF Clutch and Columbia Full Swing, just throw it out there.

Neither of these balls offers the oil handling of the Cell.

i believe that the clutch would handle the same amount of oil but not nearly the control of a Cell, i dont think there is anything out there thats close to the reaction and control yet still aggressive in oil, if you want something cleaner through the heads then look at the Rogue Cell.

I would think the Rogue could be close, but I would hold off for a bit and get a Mutant Cell.

Hello,

me too, i need help with a ball selection!
Although i am pretty old, i am a beginner in Bowling...i play once a week for about 2 years now, and i want to buy my first ball.
One Problem is, that noone ever taught me how to bowl properly, so i just throw the ball in a straight line - without a curve.
Yet i still have hope to come across someone someday who will teach me the right technique...
My average right now might be around 150...which BAll would ya`ll recommend for a dude like me?
What did everyone else start with?
The recomendations i got from a ProShop are:
"Pyramid Rising, Storm Tropical Breeze or a Brunswick Rhino"
What is your opinion?

Thank you!

Welcome to BowlingChat

Your proshop is recommending an entry level ball.
It is good advice.

It is a ball that you will develop your game with, get your fit correct and learn to shoot spares.
Get your average up to 170+ then think about upgrading your set to include a stronger ball.
I rewarded myself with a new ball for raising my average as I was learning the game.

Thank you for the reply!
Would you recommend any of these 3 equally, or is there one better than the others?

I would save your money until someone is willing to help you learn to throw a hook or you get lessons from a coach.

As long as you are throwing a straight ball I wouldn't buy a new ball as it won't help very much if any.

Out of the 6 balls mentioned I like the Hammer Vibe.
