I have a strong feeling that some are not going to like this.

So that is the woman I always see on the TV telecasts sitting laneside... posts on the net say her real name is: Jaclyn Marinkovichcoolerman wrote:..... Jackie Bowling.....
Re: Bowling This Month - Ball Testing Roundtable
Yes her real name is Jaclyn Marinkovich.I have known her for 4 years. She live in Detroit area.
She is not a great bowler, but she is always learning, asking questions and practicing. She
just needs to stick with one coach. She is around so many bowlers giving her tips, her mind
is always thinking about the last tip given. She loves the sport. And wants the best for it.

I still think there is going to be people questioning the validity of the testing.Did anyone
watch the video?

Testing without machines will always be subjective.
coolerman, I dont see why you think there is such a big deal.

Testing with machines are just the start of it.MegaMav wrote:Testing without machines will always be subjective.

There are so many variables that go along with this. They are only testing on one kind of lane surface, lane oil, etc.
They are also drilling the ball different for different styles of bowlers. Interesting the fact that when they say "max it out" they are not DT'ing the ball.
So taking in consideration of the overflow of variables, BTM gives you a pretty good write up on balls.
Re: Bowling This Month - Ball Testing Roundtable
I agree. Both BTM and BJI do an outstanding job given all the contextual variables.MeNoRevs wrote:So taking in consideration of the overflow of variables, BTM gives you a pretty good write up on balls

Bowling this Month does a great job on their ball reviews.I just thought some would
doubt the validity of the reviews without the balls being drilled with dual angles.

Re: Bowling This Month - Ball Testing Roundtable
At the beginning of BTM's ball review they are very up front with thier testing procedures and I think provide plenty of information to make a educated decision. I think it would be overkill if they tested every pattern ever created, with every brand oil, using every oil machine ever used, on every bowling surface ever manufactured. All that data would just confuse 99% of the bowling community. I think BTM does a wonderful job of reviewing each ball and they seem un-biased in their revews for each manufacturer.
Re: Bowling This Month - Ball Testing Roundtable
I wonder how long they have been planning this? Anyone know?
May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life
contribute in some way to that happiness

Re: Bowling This Month - Ball Testing Roundtable
Gary,Bob Summerville came up with the concept for BTM in June 1994.The first issue was
September 1994.That issue was in tabloid form. The next 7 issues were also in tabloid form.
The first issue that was in magazine form was the May 1994 issue.
Bob only intended the magazine to be a over the counter type magazine. Most people picked
them up around the Houston area centers. Before Bob know it,the magazine was getting
around the U.S. and Canada. The next step, put a ad in November 1994 issue of
Bowling Magazine for subscriptions. And the rest is history.Bob created the best technical
bowling publication in bowling history.

Coolerman-
Thanks for the correction. I will have to check out my back issues as I have all the magazine format issues. Thanks again.

I agree that I think BTM does a great job, I enjoy reading through the reviews and they really do seem to be honest.
