I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a new ball which would be equivalent to either of these older balls from 2000-2009...

Re: Modern equivalent to older bowling balls
Welcome to BowlingChat
I'm sorry but I don't have personal experience with the balls listed.
Trying to match ball reactions from 20+ years ago is difficult.
Lane conditions and ball technology has changed a lot.

Knowing your release specs and what kind of lanes you bowl on not only helps with layouts, but can also be used to pick out new equipment.

Re: Modern equivalent to older bowling balls
I understand what you are saying. I was just looking for a current ball that resembles the core and such of either of these balls.

Re: Modern equivalent to older bowling balls
I would suggest you go to your local proshop.
Let them see you roll a ball and have a conversation about what new balls will fit your style.
Otherwise Check out this link...

The data collected is not just for layouts but can be used to help choose what balls are right for you as well.
I don't make specific ball recommendations but can give guidance as to what type of ball/layout will give you the reaction you want.

Brunswick Fuze Igniter (blue/gold)

Columbia 300 Messenger Ti (gold/black)

Fuze Igniter core: RG 2.56, diff 0.043. Coverstock: Aggressive Reactive SS. Factory Finish: Rubbing and Finishing Compound Double Buff
A similar core is in the Hy Road: RG 2.57, diff 0.046.
It would then be a matter of choosing the right coverstock, and the Hy Road has current options of hybrid and pearl with the solid recently retired.
Messenger Ti Pearl core: RG 2.527, diff 0.043. Coverstock: Pearlized Super-Flex, polished.
A similar core and cover is in the Roto Grip Hyped Pearl, polished pearl, core RG 2.52, diff 0.036.
Ebonite Puma is similar, polished pearl, core RG 2.525, diff 0.036.
900 Global Burner Pearl, polished pearl, core RG 2.53, diff 0.037.
These are probably as close as you'll get.
For something stronger in the cover...
A similar core and cover is in the C300 Spoiler Alert, polished pearl, core RG 2.52, diff 0.045. Nov 2018 so may be hard to find now.
A polished Radical Payback is probably a lot stronger pearl cover, but similar core RG 2.528, diff 0.041.
A polished Hammer Scorpion is stronger hybrid cover, but similar core RG 2.52, diff 0.043.

Re: Modern equivalent to older bowling balls
I'd refurbish the originals so the are equivalent to fresh out the box, and rock them. There are a ton of vintage balls that till have a place in the game.
Re: Modern equivalent to older bowling balls
I agree with BossHog. Have both of the balls de-oiled and resurfaced back to original oob surface and see how they roll for you. Adjust surface as needed.
