New ball help
I currently bowl with a dv8 verge pearl. I am looking for a ball that hooks less. Any suggestions on what I should be looking at?

Re: New ball help
Welcome to BowlingChat
I am not in the business of selling bowling balls so I don't really like to make specific ball recommendation.
The DV8 Verge is not really a strong ball. It is a medium oil Symmetrical ball with a differential of .049
I would look for a ball listed as a light oil ball with a differential around .040
This will fill your need by using the same layout as your old ball.
Otherwise, Layout can be a good way to make sure your new ball doesn't hook as much as your old one.

For more advice I need to know your release specs.
Also knowing what layout the Verge has would be helpful as well.

Re: New ball help
Eric, if you are familiar with the ball reviews published in Bowler's Journal or Bowling This Month would you offer a comment?
I've been out of bowling for about 15 years, so I can't even offer a laymans perspective.

Re: New ball help
I've never used either of these publications.
I use the manufactures websites and youtube reviews.
I just looked up the DV8 Verge Pearl in the bowlers journal.
To my disappointment they list it is as a strong Asymmetrical ball.
It is not, it is Symmetrical.
Next I checked out the Bowling this month comparison.
All it does is give you the ball specs side by side.
This is a nice option when comparing several balls on one page rather than having many windows or tabs open clicking back and forth.
I thank you for offering these options to help choose a ball.
I originally looked it up on DV8's website and made my assessment from there.
I was mistaken about the differential. My eyes went right to the 13# column.
At 14#,15# and 16# the differential is .049
It does have a decently strong core. This will change my recommendation a little.
