slower ball speed

Post by klarkpba »

I am 73 and my ball speed is slowing down. Ball speed was around 18 mph off my hand and is now around 14 mph. I am a high tilt player. I am wondering how much my bench mark numbers have changed. I was a speed dominate bowler and I am wondering if I still speed dominate.

Starting the ball rolling.

I've read that seniors eventually become rev dominant.
Hi tilt equates to longer skid as does higher axis of rotation.

This video will show you how I measure axis tilt, rotation, rev rate, and ball speed from video that has been properly shot. For a tutorial on how to properly shoot the video please see: Video Capture Revs & Tilt

I know how to get my axis tilt (25). Mo had my mench mark total at 80 plus or minus 20, and speed dominate. My question now that my ball speed has dropped am I still speed dominate or am I closer to matched up?

4 mph is huge, without the numbers it’s hard to say matched or rev dominate

I am thinking that I am closer to matched up than speed dominate. I am going to buy a Radical ball and am open to suggestions.

Coincidentally, I happened upon this last night. I had been watching the Beef and Barnzy YouTube show because they had Mark Baker on. I trolled the YouTube for more lessons and or tips from Mark.
Most of our muscle mass and strength is in our core and legs, and that is the primary source of proper speed generation.
Has your normal walking speed noticeably decreased?
Do you have balance issues.
This short clip with Mark may benefit you.
There are also some other clips with Mark cyber coaching

I included a video of his helping Lady Pro Daria Kajmk

You are actually pushing into Rev dominance.
Sweetspot: Totals 100*, Ratio 1:1.25
Benchmark ........... 45-4.5-55 adjust to put the pin in the Ring finger.
Long and Strong ..... 65-4.5-55
Control ................ 45-5-75

Benchmark is a Strong drilling.
For a typical house shot I recommend the Control and long and strong layouts.
Eric Hartwell

Right Handed
PAP 4.75" up 1/2"
45* rotation
12* tilt
330 rev rate
16 mph off hand

Thank you for the advise. I really hadn't thought of me being rev dominate. In the past I stood at the back of the approach and attacked the foul line and had a lot of ball speed. Now that I am older I have had to move to just behind the middle dots in order to be in balance. That has cost me ball speed. I was always fortunate to be able to call Mo for layout advice sadly that is not possible anymore.
