MegaMav:
Great info on the video. Need your advice - I'm looking at the Results line-up and they all look intriguing. Presently throwing a Zing with a short pin layout with considerable surface on a 42' THS.
Specs. Speed - 19, Tilt - 19, Rotation - 70, PAP - 4 13/16 X 1/2 up, RR - 310.
According to Mo, Intermediate Diff. is the most important property of the drilled ball. So in my thinking, higher is better. Because of this I'm looking at the Max Flip layout with the Diff = .55 and the ID =.40 with the PSA in the thumb.
Which Results would you recommend and why? Is my thinking erroneous when it comes to the layout and my thoughts about the ID?
Any suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU

Speed dominant. Go for the Results Solid.
Bigger isnt always better. Its about matching the ball up to the bowler.

MegaMav: Watched your Trailblazer video and again another good one. In choosing a ball how important is the spin time?

Important as that is a reflection of the ball design's dynamic response to friction.
If you know the spin time of various undrilled balls and you've throw them you can use the information to make informed decisions on layout in the future.
Spin time eliminates the coverstock, so it is purely a measurement of the core design.

I haven't had the opportunity to measure a ball's spin time prior to drilling.MegaMav wrote: ↑October 10th, 2022, 2:36 pm Important as that is a reflection of the ball design's dynamic response to friction.

I've only been able to use a DeTerminator post drilled to see how my arsenal compares.
Do you have any Data that compares Pre-drilled to Post drilled Spin times?
Questions I have...
How much and what direction does the Basic Arsenal type layouts affect the Spin Time?

Right Handed
PAP 4.75" up 1/2"
45* rotation
12* tilt

First question: I dont keep that data. I do spin before and after and rarely does the spin time go UP.EricHartwell wrote: ↑October 10th, 2022, 8:52 pm I haven't had the opportunity to measure a ball's spin time prior to drilling.

Pin up layouts spin time drops much more than pin down, which is to be expected by taking more mass out of the side of the core on pin up.
By drilling holes you are adding asymmetry to the design in most cases.
Second question: core shape matters. That's very loaded question.
For spin time, it's the placement of the holes more than the layout which is bowler specific to their PAP.
Spin time is based on a neutral point 4.125" from the Low and High RG axes, not PAP, so the bowler is irrelevant.
This is why post drilled spin time is really only relevant to the individual bowler only and not really relatable to others.
The RG contour in which the PAP starts on and contour shape are big determining factors in real world ball motion.
New Radical Ball Purchase
Need your recommendation for a new Radical Ball - sym. or asim - layout also. In viewing the videos of the Crypto and Bigfoot the path of the ball is exactly what I am looking for. (up the boards in the track area) Presently throwing the Results Solid with max. rev. layout. I want to go straight.
My Specs:
PAP 4 13/16 1/2up
Rev. rate 290
Tilt 17
Rotation 70
Speed at release 17 on 42' THS - synthetic surface

I would recommend Trail Blazer Solid - 50 x 4.25 x 40
