High RG balls
Roto Grip has a new ball coming out, the Wild Streak in their HP3 line. It is a 3000 grit solid cover with a 2.60 RG and 0.048 Diff. Under what conditions or during league on THS will a high RG ball fit?
My Arsenal: Storm Supernova, Storm Absolute, Storm Phaze 3, Rotogrip Idol Cosmos, 900 Global Zen Master, and Storm Punch Out
Re: High RG balls
High RG revs up later and reads the back end harder.
Re: High RG balls
One of the older analogies was using the image of a figure skater spinning on the ice.
Arms extended, slower spin, arms in, faster spin. A bowling ball with a lower RG will rev up sooner and thus use up its "fuel" faster ...
One of the articles on the wiki explains the three phases of ball motion.

Re: High RG balls
High RG balls hook for longer before rolling.
The end.
The end.
Re: High RG balls
At the simplest High Rg balls essentially skid a little farther (A lot of times this is referred to as "Lope" by old schoolers) before "reving up" and making a move than low Rg balls would. So In general You basically would use a High RG ball when you want the ball to get farther down the lane before it makes it move.
They are what you would typically tend to use on medium-dry to dry lane conditions. Low Rg would be for wetter conditions where you want the ball to start moving earlier.
Something to note is drillings can affect Rg numbers and of course coverstocks and surface texture will have an affect also on the balls motion. Plus whether your rev or speed dominate will have a bearing on what would best suit your game and conditions.
"REMEMBER, it isn't how much the ball hooks, it's where."

Re: High RG balls
I drilled my Wild Streak 5 * 55 pin over middle finger cg pointed at thumb.
Cover is a little stronger than advertised ( go figure) Ball adapts well to hand position changes. 2pc construction and the carry FOR ME is really really good. It seems to me that letting it lane shine a little bit helped it be a touch more consistent.
If you asking for where it fits... well .. Id say a Med - Med heavy house shot is its home. but with hand position changes it can deal with some over under
