Hi,
I have more questions than answers. Would my plastic spare ball that has a decent track in it be a good way for a true Positive Axis Point. I don't change my release for spares and the ball has no flare. I have a PAP of 5 1/4 flat when my PSO looks at it. He has a stub lane that you can throw on at the shop he uses. I measured it on my spare ball and it is 5 over 7/8 up. The way I did it was traced the track then put in my ball spinner to get it squared up the beat as possible and then spin the ball and take a wax pencil and mark the top. I then used my quarter scale to measure from grip center. Having a new ball drilled tomorrow and want it right. Maybe I am over complicating it? Steve

Re: PAP
I wouldnt average using your spare ball. We dont care about spare ball layouts.44boyd wrote:Mo suggests an average for your PAP. Especially if you can do different things with your hand. So try it on an asymmetrical, symmetrical and your spare.
Symmetrical and Asymmetrical is fine.
The optimal combination is symmetrical, low-med INT DIFF asym, high INT DIFF asym.
Average the 3 together to get the happiest medium.

Re: PAP
Once the new ball is drilled find your PAP on that particular ball.
Then remeasure to find out what the layout really is.

Re: PAP
Go to the lanes. Start out by marking the PAP for your spare ball with a piece of white tape. Throw the ball and confirm that the tape looks like a dot, if not adjust the location until it does. Now mark the same PAP on other balls and have someone watch it at the release point (it will already be flaring by the time your eyes pick it up). If it's not stationary adjust it until it is. In most cases you won't have to move it more than 1/2 - 3/4". There's no better way to do it. -- JohnP

Re: PAP
Thanks for the information guys. I thought since I had a track on my spare ball it would be worth checking because my spare ball has no flare. I mapped out a ball with both PAP measurements an it changed the layout about 5 degrees on both angles and pin to pap a little. I am going to mark a cople balls and see if I can record it an see where I am. Steve
