I'd like some drilling suggestions for winter league this year. Although I'd love to buy new equipment, my finances just don't allow it, so I'll be using the only balls I have, which are a Hyper-Cell, a Rumble and a Pitch Blue. Yea, they're ancient!
The first thing I'm going to do is get remeasured, as I haven't done this in several years. Being 55 makes this more crucial.
Here are my specs:
Right Handed
Speed: 17 mph (measured with Specto)
Rev Rate: 300 (measured with Specto)
Initial Axis Rotation: around 30-45 degrees (probably closer to 30)
Initial Axis Tilt: 17*
PAP: 5-1/8 over, 1/8 up
Lane surface: DBA IQ
Lane condition: Kegel Stone Street
Lane Oil: Kegel Current
Right now, my current drillings are:
Hyper-Cell: 70*/4"/60*
Rumble: 40*/6"/35*
Pitch Blue: Here's a picture:
Since I'll have to plug and re-drill after getting remeasured, I might as well have them drilled to give me the best ball reaction possible on the condition I bowl on. The drilling for the Hyper-Cell was actually done for a sport league I was going to bowl on last summer, but ended up not bowling. It worked great this summer on the Challenge shots, but it's probably way too strong for a house shot with my specs.
Thanks in advance!

Your Hyper-Cell is far from too strong. Its strength is in the coverstock not the layout. The higher totals is making up for the strong coverstock. If you like the way it has been rolling for you I would consider keeping it as is and just modify the grip as needed.
I do suggest to redrill the Rumble and pitch blue.

Re: Drilling Suggestions
Forgive the ignorance Eric, but why don't you have a drilling angle listed for the Rumble and the Pitch Blue? I've seen this before (xx), but I don't understand what it means.EricHartwell wrote: Sweetspot 95* total 1.25:1 Ratio

Re: Drilling Suggestions
With Symmetrical balls and the new rules that are coming that forbid balance holes you are limited in what you can do with them. The only drilling angle you get is based on your thumb hole.pjape wrote:

The Drilling angle could represent the Cg location and until I gain some experience with the new 3oz static weight rule and know for sure what the effects are I am not going to make those recommendations.
