Hi,
if my favorite ball has a rg of 2.52 (benchmark ball)
would it be wise to create his panel keeping this rg
with different layout (pin up, pin down), surfaces and differential with the same rg
according to the different oil pattern
or it's really better to play with different rg and diff ?
thank you
vincent

Re: Panel arsenal
Unless you put the pin on your PAP with that layout on your favorite ball, it does not have an rg of 2.52.VINCENT wrote:Hi,

The RG of the PAP is the only one that matters and it will change according to the shape of the weight block (even if you use the same layout). I would not use the out of box low RG as the reason why you like your favorite ball.

thank you
for the response ( i can see with blueprint)
but when you know your speed, revs rate, tilt... and more
you know there is a rg you prefer ( because you have slow speed, to much revs for your speed)
so a rg is better for you .. i think
or a x rg with a x differentiel with x layout is better for play on this condition and or this part of the lane (inside, outside, deep inside..)
regardless of your game
thank you
I hope you understand my little english

Re: Panel arsenal
Differences in Rg only equates to inches in length, skid. Where as differences in coverstock grit can produce differences in length measured in feet.
Like what has already been stated, don't put too much stock into the undrilled Rg of the ball.

Re: Panel arsenal
This video shows what I am talking about. The only layout on these balls which even remotely follows what you are talking about is what Mo calls the "short pin Layout". You will see that the Low RG (out of box RG) has very little to do with what you are after (unless you put the "short pin layout" on all of your balls) and then you are ignoring all other options and not utilizing the cores of your balls.VINCENT wrote:thank you

What ball has a 2.80 Rg?MegaMav wrote:
No.
Now apply this information and utilize some more realistic numbers not the limit of the rules.
Use a real world span from 2.46 to 2.63 for the Rg Assuming the results are somewhat linear then the total length to roll is only 1 foot 10.6 inches not 3 feet 7 inches.
Now look at from VINCENT's favorite 2.52 as compared to 2.46.
Now you are only talking 9 or 10 inches.
Will the lack of balance hole use make the Rg of the ball more relevant?

RG only affects how long the ball hooks for, not the length in which it starts hooking.
Look at the graphic near the pindeck.
Re: Panel arsenal
I might be stupid but I don't really even look at the RG or diff of the ball when I am buying one. I am most concerned with the coverstock (which I never know what is truly means), heavy oil, medium oil, etc ball. Then I put a layout on it on how I want it to react. lets take 2 extremes. Hammer Ripped vs rotogrip Hustle. Those have to have vastly different Rg's. The ripped is used for heavy oil and the hustle for light oil. I put a control layout even arc on the hustle, and I put a (can't lie don't know what is put on that thing.) on the ripped. Depending on the lane condition, The balls can act similar to each other. The ripped does get angular when you move in left though.
I rambled on again. The most important thing would be the coverstock and weight block in the ball. Rg and all that isn't all that important. 2.52 vs 2.49 I don't see a difference myself. I can't tell you any specs on any ball I own right now. I can tell you this. If you can't throw the ball correctly, it doesn't matter what RG, diff, coverstock or anything else. I learned that blaming the ball on not acting correctly when I didn't even know how to throw the ball. I have a Columbia 300 swerve I couldn't ever get to act right. Once I can get it out of storage, I can't wait to see what it does.
