If I had 6 hours to chop down a tree I would spend the first 4 sharpening the axe.

I have kept a rubber ball in my bag for at least 20 years, although not a Manhattan. With a little surface on burn, it's a great alternative to get some control.
I don't think $500 is reasonable though...

Re: are Manhattan rubber urethane balls any good?
To someone it might be. But that person would have an intimate relationship with the ball with it representing something to them.
For someone who knows nothing of the ball or the ball has no meaning to them, then maybe it isn't worth it.
Ultimately, it is an old urethane just like a lot of other older urethanes. It didn't hold any significant historical value or popularity like some others (U-Dots, Phantoms, Ultimate Weapons, Quantums, etc..)

Purchased a Black Manhattan Rubber 16 lb. when I moved from Italy to my relatives in Long Island in 1971. I bought it at brick & mortar proshop in Walley Stream, Merrick road ( L.I.)
Would pay 500 bucks only if it could take me back at age of 20 !

Claudio, did you mean Valley Stream perhaps?JimH wrote: Claudio, You are still young at heart.

I had an Aunt and Uncle who lived in Valley Stream.
Come to think of it, the last time I was there I was in my twenties ...
I bet a few guys could have used one on that Wolf Pattern, last week ...
May all beings everywhere be happy and free,
and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life
contribute in some way to that happiness
and to that freedom for all.

My aunt and uncle lived in Freeport. I was there end of 1971 and beg. 1972.
I bought my Manhattan for 29 $ ( drilled). In Freeport there was a 48 lanes center.
