Columbia 300 EPX A1

Post by J_w73 »

I have a new 15 lbs Columbia 300 EPX A1 that I got a while ago to use for my heavy oil ball. I'm not sure if this ball is going to be any stronger than today's newer stuff. Right now I have a Marvel-S with a low RG drill and sanded for my heavy oil ball. I also have a pin up Ransom Demand that is sanded to 1000 abralon. Is it worth drilling up the EPX? Will it give me a different look that I'm not going to get from my Marvel-S or Ransom Demand?

i thought it was the EPX T1 not A1

the T1 had an RG of 2.533 and an 0.040 Diff
Epoxy Cover Stock

Never had one but they looked great on heavy patterns for a short while

I believe they made an A1 with the Ricochet core. I guess it was an overseas release and sold on bowlingball.com for a while.

Every one of those balls rolled different depending on how it poured. It's a crap shoot, but try it.

Mo is correct. f you got one that was from a small batch (not mass produced) and done with care-you have one of the GREAT balls made. If it was from a large batch and not done with great care- it may disintegrate on the lanes right before your very eyes. I was told by Carmen Salvino and Danny S (years ago) that they were close to making the greatest ball of all time but just could not put the time in to find the missing chemical formulations. Good luck.

Sounds like a crap shoot and I'm not sure if it would even be something that I could use. Maybe I'll just put it up for sale on ebay. Seems like they fetch a decent amount.
