What effect do you think "RG" has on ball motion?

Direct quote from "Ball Selection" section on BowlingChat University:
Quote:
The elements of selecting a bowling ball should be considered in this order:
  1. Coverstock Strength
  2. Total Differential
  3. Intermediate Differential
  4. Pin to CG Distance
  5. Top Weight

The following elements are relatively non-critical in selecting a bowling ball.
  1. Minimum RG value
  2. Color

So which kind of ball you are looking for?

Some bowlers just have RG preferences based on previous successes. Can't blame someone when you have Hank Boomershine touting a .01 difference in low RG he achieved by pouring the Centripetal core with a denser material (Soniq vs. Marvel cores).

To me the more important question is, what does "strongest" mean to you? For me, it means "ability to handle the most oil". To some eyes, a Brunswick Tenacity would *look* stronger than, say, a Kingpin... more often than not. Until you hit a flood where the Tenacity won't slow down in time, that is.

Here is my impression. I can't say it's accurate, but it's my perception.

I have equipment from 2.48 up to 2.57 with everything in between. Even with similar layouts, the ones over 2.54 seem to "roll differently". The higher RG balls don't seem to rev up off the hand immediately. They labor a bit. The motion is fine, and the carry/continuation can be impressive (ie. Rack Attack, Hy-Road, GM Whack, etc).

Now, when I'm watching ball reviews (from the same reviewer) I don't see this type of difference. Luke Rosdahl rolling a Hy-Road looks pretty similar to an Intense, at least in terms of how the ball seems to rev up off his hand.

Perhaps it's just the way I roll the ball... Personal bias... I don't know.
I'm getting visual feedback from the lower RG balls that is helpful (or at least comforting).

Steve
