I disagree my friend……..your game does not need a lot of work.
Actually, I see more good than bad.

My Analysis:
1) Through S3 it’s fair to say that you and Jason have a lot in common.
2) However, there’s a distinct difference in your movement from S3 to S4.
3) Both Jason and you have your arms extended in S3 during ball placement.
4) Jason then keeps his arms extended as the ball drops to the bottom of his swing under his head.
5) From your position in S3, you begin bending both arms as your swing moves downward.
6) Your ball position is waist high in S4. (due to the bent arms).
7) Jason’s ball position is just above his knees. (due to his arms remaining straight).
8) Because of early bending of your arms, in S5 your ball position is way above your waist. And lifting the ball that high over tilts your upper body.
9) Notice at the top of his swing Jason’s ball is approximately waist high and he has less upper body tilt.
10) In S7 as your swing starts down your upper leans forward.
11) In S9, because of the previous movement of your upper body. Your upper body is now very rounded.
12) In B6 your head has completely disappeared (due to forward tilt of upper body).
13) Look at the position of your upper body compared to Jason’s in B7.

Practice plan:
1) After you reach your second step in S3, simply allow both arms to remain extended as the ball falls to the bottom of your swing.
2) Practice, practice, practice this move.
3) Once you have mastered this move post new video.

Hello Jim, very good analysis. One small detail I would like to add is something that Del stressed a lot for my game, trail leg needs to be off the ground (slide 3) this will fix the rounded back which is very dangerous and can cause lower back problems.

Hey, you have great advice from a great coach, Jim Merrell is one of the best. Focus on the one thing he told you to work on and post video after you have mastered it so another homework can be assigned. Be patient but persistent, Rome was not built in a day.

Firstly, thanks for your input.

I believe in only giving the patient enough medicine at a time to make them feel better........not a large enough dose to kill the patient.

I believe my dosage of keeping those arms extended during the down-swing will go a long way towards improving his posture. He sent me a text that he will be working hard on that move, so we'll check his posture in his next video.

I question the necessity of the trailing leg being off the ground to prevent back pain?
Del is entitled to his opinion though.

Years ago, Jason stated publicly that he was working on keeping his trailing leg on the ground.

I don't believe Jason understood the "Cause & Effect" of why his trailing leg was off the ground.

Whether it's a one-handed or two-handed athlete, I teach "Knee Continuation".

Knee Continuation can only happen if we allow our body weight to move forward......not upward during the release process.

I've attached a slide reflecting the difference in Jason's trail leg position being dependent on whether his weight went upward or forward during the release process.

I'll see Del in a couple of weeks at the Intensive Road Show camp.

This issue should make good dinner conversation.

Again, thanks for your input Tony.
