Hello!
This is my first post here. In fact, this is my first post about bowling ever. I need some help regarding my swing. In my back swing I tend to go too much behind my back, and at my down swing my arm is too far from my body which cause problems with my release. I try to have a relaxed muscle free swing but when I do, the problem arises. When I try to straighten my swing it feels awkward and I have to use my muscles more and the shot is a total failure, but on camera the latter swing looks better. (I hope you understand my writing, english is not my primary language.)
I am a beginner and I try different type of styles to see what fits me. Maybe I should do this straighter swing and then try to have my arm so close to my body as possible on the down swing, like a figure eight. I almost never bowl outside of the lane, more likely to the inside with a hook.
Thanks
Proper swing

Hi there. By the way, please consider adding your first name to your signature.
Welcome to the forum.
For most human beings, good footwork facilitates a good arm swing.
Ball position in the stance, ball placement into the swing will help or hinder you.

I say most, because there are always exceptions. But having good foot work is not a bad thing.
This post by Jim Merrell has a graphic on a five step, you can adapt this to a four step if that is what you do.
Rear view bench marks of a bowlers approach involve the placement of the steps.
Mark Baker uses the term "foot works and swing are intricately related".
